Open Thread - Boston vs. LAAAAAA

Greetings.  The lineups are as follows.

Boston:
Crisp
Pedroia
Ortiz
Youkilis
Hinske
Lowell
Pena
Cora
Mirabelli

A terrifying lineup for sure.  ManRam is out for the game because of his anger at the Fenway official scorer...ERRR...his bum knee

LAAAAAAA:
Figgins
Izturis
Cabrera
Vlad
Anderson
Rivera
Kendrick
Kennedy
Napoli

Pitching:  Beckett (13-8, 5.35 ERA) vs. Weaver (9-0, 1.95 ERA)
How Beckett has the same record as Zito is flat out stupid, but that's baseball.  Weaver goes for his 10th win, which would be a rookie record for most wins to start a career.  GO RED SOX!!!!

In a dream scenario
the Earth would open up and swallow both of these teams, and they would never be heard from again.  But, since that probably won't happen, BOO ANGELS!

Not only that
but it's no wonder why even though the Angels have a pretty bitter rivalry going against the Rangers right now, he's completely focused on the A's because he knows ANers read to see what outrageous statement he'll make next and will tend to link to his ridiculous statement of the day.

I plead this all the time, but stop visiting his site, let the Angel fans roll around in his vitriol, negativity and bile for a while.  I'm convinced half his traffic comes from AN because he says whatever he can to rile people over here up.

Yeah
Page 2 made the point a couple days ago that (essentially) Manny sets up Ortiz to be "clutch." Like the first game of the series, without Manny in the lineup to protect him, Papi was walked in the 9th and then K-Rod got Youkilis out. If Manny was in the lineup, they might have been priming for a sweep tonight.

What made the difference there
was the thick layer of grit covering Kennedy's glove hand.  The ball actually glanced off of Kennedy's grit and went straight to Cabrera.  Without that grit, the ball goes right past him into right field, 1st-and-3rd, one out.

And people say that grit doesn't matter in baseball!
