"In Focus" on 88-90 A's

Did anyone see that FSNBA program last night, featuring interviews with Stew, Eck, Don Baylor, as well as Ken Rosenthal, Glenn Dickey, and Michael Zagarias (A's photographer).  It basically talked about that team being so solid around 3 young players (Canseco, Mac, and Weiss) and 3 journeyman (Eck, Welch, Stew).  The A's were heavily favored over the Dodgers in '88, and Eck admitted to being too fine with the .193 hitting Mike Davis in part because Davis belted 23 homers the year before while with the A's.

It basically said that the A's should have won 3 titles instead of one, and that sole title came in the aftermath of tragedy in the Bay Area.  They should have handled the Reds instead of making Billy Hatcher and Chris Sabo look like HOFers.  It was the dynasty that never materialized.

On a more positive note, they talked about how those A's teams used to intimidate everyone with the Bash Brothers.  Let's go Oakland!
