Mariners just got better

The Mariners acquired Ben Broussard from Cleveland for prospect Shin-Soo Choo.

I imagine that this moves Sexson to DH.  Broussard's having a pretty solid year (OPS .880), and will surely help Seattle's offense.  Are we a little worried about the Mariners?

I like Broussard and wanted
the A's to make a play for him, but I wonder if the Mariners gave up too much to get him. On a team that has Sexson, it's basically a move to acquire a DH-platoon. They gave up a highly rated prospect (and a PTBNL).

The back end of the M's rotation is still pretty bad--and the front end should be the middle.

we should be worried about every team
in the division. There's not a whole lot of evidence to suggest that one of the four teams is clearly better than the other three. The Angels have played best the past month or so, but they obviously have issues as we do, and texas, and Seattle. it is sort of the NL West last year all over again.

They also got worse.
Didn't they let go of Everett too?

Or does Dino Carl not believe in that?

I was counting that on the getting better side.
His OPS was only .657.  Maybe he doesn't believe in being a productive major league hitter.

Actually made them better.
Carl Everrett has been horrible (.666 OPS) and they recalled Chris Snelling who can rake when he's healthy.

Shin-Soo Choo
I think there is too much value placed on him but Cleveland doesn't have to worry about anything as long as they're in the ALCentral.  Seattle has Perez too, I wonder what kind of relationship Perez and Broussard have.

Seems a lot...
Looks like Seattle think they have a genuine chance to go at it this year or something. Slightly surprised by it, but whatever. Broussard's got a history of hammering us, doesn't he? Oh well. Still not worried about the M's.

Choo was the most expandable player in our
system. It was never a question if he was gonna be traded, but to whom and for what.

I love this deal personally. We essentially replaced the black hole that was Everett at DH with the two headed monster that is Perez/Broussard.

Against lefties:..330/.361/.680
