Could Kendall be traded?
As much of an offensive black hole as he is, there are playoff-hopeful teams that need a catcher. Well, Kendall is, if nothing else, a bonafide ML catcher. He is an absolute liability to an already weak hitting team that plays station to station and desperately needs a dangerous bat in the lineup, but his limited offensive assets could be utilized on a speedier team. He is a mediocre defensive catcher, and the remainder of his contract (with help from the Pirates) is not nearly as astronomical as it once was. Piazza is killing the Pads with his defense. Would the Pads be willing to swap Piazza for Kendall, or even Kendall and Perez? Would it make the A's better?

Piazza's probably their best hitter.
I just think that BB loves
I'm waiting patiently for Suzuki. He is probably our next catcher when we finally get rid of Kendall.

Piazza wouldn't help us
I do truly wish we could dump Kendall and just use a Melhuse/Baker or Brown platoon.
No Trade Clause
He'd probably OK San Diego.
The Padres have a near-perfect
You're probably right
- Kendall would ok it, no doubt about that.
- The Padres are giving away runs with runners stealing on Piazza at will.
- Bard can't hit, and looks like he never will.
- They have a top-flight catching prospect in the minors (George Kottaras) who is probably two years from the majors.
- They are desperate for a 3B who can hit.
- I like pipe dreams.
#3: really?
Yeah, that's what I was thinking
But..if they want to throw guys out...

What do you mean, OP?
Kendall could most definetly be traded
And he'd waive his NTC to play in SD. I think he'd also do it to go play in SF or Arizona.
Kendell
He'd waive his NTC
What's the one thing every 33 year old Catcher wants? A contract when he's 34. If Kendall wants to make good money in 2008 and beyond he needs to revitalize his bat a bit and what better way to do that then by moving back to the NL where he was once a .300+ hitter?
He'd waive his NTC is he had an opportunity to go to SF, SD, LA (not that they need a Catcher) maybe Arizona, maybe Colorado. SF and SD, along with Arizona and Colorado may need a 1 year vet next season.
Bad Idea
As much as I think Beane is losing his touch (Windsor?), getting Kendall for good may have been the best move he has made in a while.

Here's a trade that could work...
We unload Kendall, get back an adequate catcher to hold down the fort until Suzuki is ready and we pick up a stud outfield prospect.
Kendall waives his no trade to go back to the NL and to hit in the friendly light air of Colorado.
