Depodesta

What ever happened to Depodesta?

Star-divide

Is it just me, but does it seem that things have kind of deteriorated since Depo left?  Is David Forst doing a good enough job? The Loaiza signing, the loss of the draft pick due to Loaiza, the Kendall trade, the Hudson/Meyer fiasco, the lack of serious minor league prospects, an so on and so forth. Of course, there is a lack of prospects because the best are on the big league club, nonetheless, the lack of pitching prospects makes me nervous with the prospect of Zito leaving and Harden's continual injuries.  Buck, Suzuki, Powell, Windsor, and Barton look to be major leaguers, but the lack of any additional prospects may keep Billy from making any sort of substantial trade mid season to improve the offense. For instance, packaging Dan Johson with minor leaguers for a major league left fielder with power, and then moving Swisher to first base.
Anyway, what happened to Depo, maybe the A's can bring him back.

Bowden
The new owners of the Nationals could have signed Depodesta as GM instead they signed Bowden to an extension. One of the first things Bowden did was trash the entire team by saying that the players acted like they wanted the team to get the first pick in the draft (i.e, the players want to come in with the worst record in major league baseball). If I was playing for that team I would hate a GM that trashed the desire of the entire team like that. It's not the players fault the organization put together such a mediocre team. I could never imagine Billy Beane lashing out at the A's like that. Extremely unprofessional and counterproductive.

Surprised?
I saw him first hand when I lived in Cincy for a year.

You're suggesting maybe
David Forst is to blame for the A's recent failures, but has Brandon Buckley really caught any good bullpen sessions lately? And my school's P.E. teacher manages equipment better than Steve Vucinich does. I'm just saying.
I like Cindi. A.She never pretends to know more than she does. B. She has unbridled enthusiasm for her "Hotties," and isn't afraid to show it. -IM4Oakgal

nah...
I'm just saying that depodesta may be available, and he was an integral portion of the brains behind the whole moneyball business.  Am i saying that Forst is to blame for recent failures? Not really,  but, he does have major involvement with personnel moves, and he is an important part of Billy's braintrust. The moves Forst have been involved in have not been as good as some of the A's past personnel moves of the Depo era. That may mean that Billy has just had some bad luck, or, perhaps Forst's number crunching and analysis has not been at the level of Depo's, or some other members of Billy's team are not doing a good job. There is definite room for improvement.  But, really, Brandon Buckley does seem to be dogging it at the bullpen. He looks like he is as fat as "cupcakes". It's all his fault now that I think about it.
