advice on A's tickets

I am coming home to see my team in early August and was wondering if anyone on this site has any sage advice on getting tickets.  I only have time for one game:  either Mon or Tues nite v. Texas 8.07 or 8.09.  Can I just walk up and get a decent ticket (two actually...I'm bringing my son to his first game ever)...or is it recommended to purchase in advance.  I feel rally weird not even knowing this kind of thing anymore...sound advice appreciated.  Thanks.

If you prefer to walk up
you should still be able to get good tickets: Texas is not a high drawing team.

I would advise going to one of the box offices at the front of the stadium instead of one of the stands behind the stadium on the BART side.  The box offices at the front can get you just about any available tickets, whereas with the stands, the selection is much more limited.

Walk-up
has the advantage of allowing you to pick your seats.  If you buy on-line, you can only choose the price you're willing to pay.

It's usually not worth it to me ...
but when I'm traveling and trying to hit games, it's sure as hell convenient to show up with tickets in hand.

I would say you should buy them in advance.
It'll cost a bit more -- but you're on vacation, avoid the hassle.
