Open Thread: Game 61 - A's at New York
Hang on to your hats, folks, because you're about to see a lineup without Chavez, or Crosby, or Ellis. A lineup in which Jay Payton, sub-.300 OBP and all, hits in the #3-hole, while Scutaro hits 7th and actually looks like he belongs there. It has come to this.
Welcome to the big league club, Mike Rouse, and by the way we need you to start. And if you have a two-hit game, you'll pass our third-baseman's season total. Gak.
So without further ad-eewww, here they are, ladies and gentlemen, your 2006 World Series contending Oakland Athletics!!!
Kendall
Swisher
Payton
Thomas
Kielty
Bradley
Scutaro (SS)
Perez (3B)
Rouse (2B)
Damon
Jeter
Giambi
Rodriguez
Posada
Cano
Williams
Cairo
Cabrera

Already posted this, but it bears repeating
Instead of watching mlbtv
Going out of a limb
You'll end up saving $500
sawing on limb now, and standing
It could happen.
You've been Mr. Glass-half-full today.
Nah
No reason why not
Hey, I haven't changed
Who's now moved on to polygamy
Yeah, a few episodes
Huh.
Since Casa Monkeyball is a cable-free environment, we have to catch up via DVD. Slavering over getting s2 of Rescue Me.
Never got into Rescue Me
RM isn't the best, but it's fun
Me likey the Shield
For me though, the best show on TV is... <gulp> Battlestar Galactica. It's about the only show I make time for.
interesting
Michael Chiklis = mid-period Oliver Reed
1st off... who you calling friend? :)
I recently purchased S2 of RM...
I meant to record s3...
So, I'm like 3 hrs too late
I think Macha decided
<hysterical laughter>
That lineup's bad enough on its own...
...Man. It's gonna be one heck of a game.
or
We find out that Kotsay broke his back on the flight to New York.

a common post but it heck,
At least our DH is not batting .000
Someday our team will be healthy--right?
Let them laugh

Yes, and almost the day before also
Wasn't it amazing how quiet that bat day crowd was as the left the park after the A's won. I almost felt bad for all the kids with bats who expected the Yanks to win until the last out.

Wow.
Can I please borrow someone's spare helmet?

I don't know how you can blame Macha
It's okay
There are at most 4 players in this lineup that are major league starters. That's horrible.
by oakfan97 on Jun 9, 2006 3:57 PM PDT up reply actions
I had heard
how apropos
He's going to kick ass.
wow
My guess is that Kotsay was a scratch - that's why Payton is in the three hole.
I'm not good at remembering
As long as Kotsay's not hurt...
Oh, maaaaan ...
can we get a separate game thread
Or is that what we're doing now.... ;)
Ok...
Let's go Oakland... <clap clap clap--> Oh, heck with it. Let's just make it through the game without anyone losing a limb, mmmk?
I like it
I agree with playing lots of subs at one time, how many times in the last few years have I seen the Giants win on Sunday using a AAAA lineup?
If you are going to do that, might as well do it with RH bats against Randy. There's a certain "nobody expects us to win" edge that guys sometimes get.
And I also like playing the rookie in his first game up, no time to think about it, just react.
This lineup against the Yankees?
Hey... look at the bright side

I'd have caught the referrence
I think it's great ...
I think that's why Macha did it ... to get him a chance to get his confidence up.

I've been asleep for three hours

"Are you serious?"
"Yeah, I just got up. Where are you?"
"Mom... our apartment's not that big." And he walks out of his room.
So I turn on the TV in time to see them announcing our lineup.
I'm pretty sure I died sometime during my nap.
BOO YAH!
there is one
3 more to go frank!

Not as deep as BIG FRANK'S! Sweet!

What is this jackass talking about
He just said that with the advent of the Questec system, Frank Thomas' numbers went down, as if he was dependent on having a small strike zone to put up good numbers. Please.
Sorry, I should clarify
he was talking about how umpires
Oh, I understand what he said.
Maybe Perez will get a hit...

Actually
I don't like Perez's stance AT ALL
Cleveland gets tired of somebody and sends
Do they do that for the other team?
do they do what?
Not good start for Rouse.

Saarloos over the long haul (the duration of Harden's injury) doesn't get me excited about our chances. Especially when the Angels can bring someone up like little weaver, and colon about to return...

Vince was talking about Crosby. Crosby tried swinging the bat in the trainer's room. Vince said "Davis tried gerry... mandering Crosby's bat with extra padding. No baseball activities for Crosby today. He's hoping to play on Sunday."
Rouse looks like a mini-Chavy.
Well, after another look...
<snerk>
Scoot vs the Swamp Thing? Bride of Scoot? Abbot and Costello Meet Scoot?
lol
They showed the A's dugout a couple times.
He was smiling, though.
It's better than seeing him cry.
I dont know if he was running
HA hA!
2-0!
try Yahoo GameChannel
Kendall BB on 9 pitches
Payton singled to LF to score Rouse
Thomas flied out to just short of where he hit the HR.
Swish in New York...ick
And Rouse scores!
(now can we replace him with a real big leaguer?)
