DLD 26 June 2006: Fine, I'll do it.
Where is everyone? Did the cool kids all go to hang out at another blog and not tell me?
Anyway, a few links for the off-day:
Macha hearts Bonds. And Ellis starts his rehab assignment in Sacramento tonight.
Over at Catfish Stew, Ken Arneson looks at one of the keys to this year's June resurgence: more quality starts. I'd add that, while getting good performances from the starting pitchers is always important, it's been particularly helpful at a time when the bullpen has been weakened by injuries.
Yesterday's NY Times (registration required) has a generic "A's get hot in June again" article, complete with generic "We probably won't trade Zito, but we might, but we probably won't" quote from Beane.
A minor league manager goes apeshit after getting ejected. You have to watch the video of this. Those who wish the A's manager showed more fire will want to Hire Mikulik Now.
And an article about retired athletes who have moved on to other careers includes Adam Piatt, who is now a financial planner. Maybe Matt Watson has a future after all.

Yesterday, with my very own eyes, I saw MaEl taking BP. As opposed to the first way I typed that, which was "I saw MaEl taking BP with my very own eyes," which would have been quite painful.
Mikulik
Either that or he can be called The Kenny Williams experiment part deux
I used to wear a pair of Mikuliks to ballgames

it's a Lakers revenge thing
well...
Despite the circumstantial evidence ...
Officials shut down a terminal at Port Hueneme, about 60 miles north of Los Angeles, after a dock worker discovered the message inside the refrigerated cargo ship, arriving from Guatemala with a load of bananas.
How do you make a banana shake?
Add nitroglycerin.
Blend on high.
Enjoy!
and if I'd gotten trapped in the container ...

<Breaks.... something>
Breakin' (stuff)
Sunday, June 25th, 2006
I have it on good authority that Huston Street busted up (stuff) pretty good after he gave up Ray Durham's walk-off homer Saturday. American League closers aren't supposed to be handy with a bat, but you could hire Huston on your demolition crew. He had some aggression to work out in the dugout and in the tunnel leading to the visiting clubhouse.
That's a scene I hope I never have to see...
That's really funny
how about this blog entry:
6, Kool & the Gang, "Celebration" -- Back in 1981, nothing was cooler than watching Tony Armas hit a home run at the Coliseum and hearing this song. Or hearing it after the game because you knew the A's won. But that was 25 years ago. I realize that practicaly nothing changes at the Coliseum, except the outfield seats, but I can't believe this still gets played after victories sometimes. (Kiss' "I wanna rock and roll all night" is definitely preferred.) The Rockies actually played "Celebration" on Tuesday after they won. I thought maybe they were rubbing it in the A's face. Or maybe it was in honor of Rockies coaches Mike Gallego and Jamie Quirk (both former A's).
I don't like it...
However...I have to admit that I like it when the boys show some fire and don't hurt themselves. I looked all over the MLB.TV for Danny hurling stuff in the dugout. I don't know why. ...well, he looked really hot when he was really mad...
Once again
anyone else watching the college world series?
