Boston ANers Help!

I know we have some ANers in Boston and I was looking for a little help.

I have a couple airline tickets and I would like to take my son to a game out of state.  We have been to all the stadiums in California (and I have been to Chase myself) but we have never been to any parks outside the state.

I have always heard that the ballparks that must be seen are Wrigley and Fenway.  And since we are playing the NL West this year for Interleague, looks like Fenway.
Problem is...each A's game next month is sold out...and nothing is available via Replay.

Here is where my AN brothers come in.  While it would be great if someone had extra tickets to sell, I realize that is wishful thinking.  I am hoping, though, that you can give some advice as to reputable ticket brokers.  I have looked on Craigslist in Boston.  Basically, I am looking for a known entity that will not take my money and run.  In addition, I am hoping to not get too reamed with the cost.  The tickets on Craigslist were pretty pricey.

Stubhub
I use stubhub to buy my tickets at Fenway.  All sox games are always going to be sold out, but stubhub, ebay, and others are ways of getting them.  By the way, make certain you are sitting down, outfeild tickets will go for no less than 60 bucks each.  After paying 7 dollars a ticket in Oakland for so many years, I just cannot countenance Fenway.  I go about once a year.  I like baseball because the working man can afford to go without wincing, unlike football and baketball, but not at Fenway.

Good luck.  And go A's.  BTW- Boston fans are serious *ssholes in the park.  I always wear my green and gold, hat and jersey usually, and have been shoved, cornered, and had a beer thrown on me.  That said, most games go without incedent, but just be prepared.  Its more an outfield thing.  THere are always A's fans in the stands though to lend a supportive towel if need be.

Have you checked Stubhub?
I've never purchased tickets from them, but I know several people who have and they never had a problem. If you're not too picky about where you're sitting, the prices aren't too bad.

I recommend the Fenway tour if you've got time to kill before the game. It's pretty cool and you'll be surprised at how overrated the Green Monster seats are.

I hope you and your son have a great time.

Here's the Fenway scoop
last summer I went up to see the Sox/Yanks game without tickets thinking the scalpers would be just as rabid as in Yankee Satdium however the scalpers wanted about 2000% over face value - ok anyway  - what they do up there is 2 hours before the game they release 200 seats sold that day, you line up at the box office it is first come first served and you can only by one ticket and have to walk right in. It is so do-able though. Just get in line early and bring something to occupy your mind. I hate the Sox like a champ but you HAVE to take your son there - it is incredible - you don't realize how small it is and there really isn't a bad seat

I heard about the tickets...
released before the game from a couple of my friends.  They said that you really only need to be there literally 2 hours before... do you know if that's true or not?

(and I'm gunna be in Boston when there A's are there.. whoohoo!)

People line up
a couple of hours before because like I said it's first come first served and if I am remembering right its 2 hours before the game that the ticket windows open and wehn they're gone they're gone, ya know. The thing is they aren't like a crop of crap seats they are randomly spread around the stadium (players that don't use their allocated seats things like that). Anyway, I wound up sitting 12 rows behind homeplate! It's a risk but if you do it right (get on line early) you can do it!

Stubhub is quick and easy ...
but, just like ticketmaster, they get you on the fees.

If you want an actual seat, you'll likely pay at least $75-80.

Definitely take the ballpark tour - it was almost a cooler experience than actually going to the game.

Different experince...
Not that it was cheap, but I did buy 3 tickets for a tigers game last season for my dad and step mom that put me back 180 even.  With fees.  From Stubhub.  The seats were distant, but I still thought my dad might cry when he saw the green monster.  He kept staring at it all game long like a little boy.

That's awesome ...
I'm certainly not suggesting doing the tour instead of the game. I'm just saying that it'd be a waste not to do it too.

agree
I loved the park tour.  I did it in the end of Sept. '03 and the old guy working the tour was harrassing me about the A's.  "Ya gonnna get beat!  Ya gonna get beat!"  It was a riot, also he did a special clapping cheer for the sawx, but said to only give Manny two claps since hes not "playing that well" this season.

The game was a snoozer the red sox blew out the orioles.  Listening to all the goons chant Nomaaaaaah! was worth the price of admission.

Gonna Have to Pay the Piper
Only way to get into Fenway is to either sit online for hours on the day they go on sale or pay the scalper.  Its a terrible system, but that's how its done.

eh ...
it's not bad ... the system rewards long standing, loyal fans and rips off fairweather fans.

The real ticket prices are not much more expensive than here in Oakland -- but pretty much the only way to get them is to be a season ticket holder.

It makes it inconvenient for baseball tourists but, honestly, I'm okay with that.
