I have been talking about this on another site. At this point, he's most likely never coming back to work. Roy has been a fixture of Oakland A's baseball for years now and one of the best PA voices in sports - dubbed "The Voice of God". Losing his services and Bill's in the same year has been a huge loss. If Roy is doing as bad as I think may be, health wise, I think it would be great to honor him NOW - if you know what I mean.
"Roy Steele Day"
They can do all sorts of great things to honor him and I know A's fans would appreciate it greatly. We need to show Roy some love.
What about a Roy Steel talking Bobblehead - with some announcements of some of the best A's players:
Now batting....centerfielder....Ricky Henderson.....
or whatever. It can go through a few players from our late 80's teams....
Lastly, AT MINIMUM - I would LOVE to see some signs in the OF - a banner. Here are 3 ideas:
"Thank You Roy Steele: Voice of God"
"Best Wishes Roy Steele: Voice of God"
"Voice of God - we miss you!"
or whatever. It's something that would certainly call attention to the fact that we appreciate and miss him greatly. I guarantee you too, that a bunch of the out of town announcers would point it out either in honor, or in question - which would be funny. Can you imagine Rex "I am a moron" Hudler saying - "what does voice of god mean Steve?"
In any event, are there any bleacher bums on here who can facilitate a banner in the OF in honor of Roy?
Just some thoughts.
