Don't get caught Phishing

By Phishing I mean email that seems to be from a reputable source telling you to "confirm your account information".  Not fun with the jam band.

Star-divide

I just received an email from "PayPal" saying that I have to update my account information or my account will be deactivated.  Thing is, the email they sent this to is one that I made up solely for AN.  I haven't used it anywhere else.

The email, and most of the URLs, look legit.  The action URL goes somewhere else, though, and probably will do nasty things to your machine if you go there.  Double bad nasty if you actually give them any valuable information.

Don't get caught in the Phishnet!

This Phish email was sent to the address I created for AN.  I thought it might be relevant to post a warning here, too.

This has been going on for a while
<censored> hackers. I also get these e-mails where some guy says that he has 10 million pounds that was left over from somebody who died in a plane crash and he's willing to give it to me, but i have to pretend to be related to the dead person.

Spam is so annoying.

I personally am dying for the day
when i can go "phishing" again...with the jam band.

oh do i miss Trey, Mike, Fish, and Page. But alas i will see Trey and Mike in a few weeks in Atlanta and Raleigh :)

Wonder if there are any 'heads' on the A's team. My guesses would start with Danny Haren.

It will happen someday.
I refuse to believe it is really over.

NICE pun Jeepers
I agree with you. And the boys have hinted at a reunion.

Hopefully it's a clean comeback and they can really put the appropriate time and energy into it.

I don't need 75% phish. Or Phish with an oblique strain....

Hey Now! Not Johnny D!!!
Aren't you the cat who use to sit behind me in 107 and yell, "Marco!" all game?

Meow!
I am that cat.

I'd yell Marco, and MrsNotJD would yell Scutaro, whenever he'd get up to bat.  I'd also don the Ronnie Mac wig and yell "Fear the Clown" when he'd get up to bat.

We'll be at the game this evening in 107 again.

I moved from 107 to LF:
It was a "Drum" induced coma!!!

I am busting out my new drum tonight!!! I am stoked!!!

If I could trade in my 107 tix
for LF seats and join the drum corps I'd love it.  Can I set up a full trap set?  Is there room?

Until then it's 107 row 3 for me.

interestingly, the only time i've been phished
is when I used paypal to buy something from AN- it was a coffee mug i use in my office. I paid more for the shipping costs then for the mug itself.

yea
the uc system has a directory online where you can see anyone's email address to their school.... i'm so familiar with the paypal phishes (?).  forward the email to spoof@paypal.com...  they reply back with a "thank you for bringing this suspicious email to our attention... yakadi smack... blah..blah... we can confirm that this blah blah did not come from paypal crap...blah...eh..."
so much on my mind, i just can't recline -respiration watch out for bears

I gotta believe that PayPal has a leak somewhere
A while back I set up a PayPal account that I was going to use for some online ordering system for a client.  The email address used for this account and the online ordering was never used anywhere, or published.  Yet, to this day, that email address gets about a dozen spam a day and only PP knew that the address existed (oh, and it was not a generic username/email like webmaster/postmaster/root/etc).  I have a couple of other unpublished email addresses that get zero mail.

by NotJohnnyDamon on Jun 14, 2006 2:11 PM PDT up reply actions

Nope,
because I don't have PayPal and I still get it.
