Andre Ethier

Just thought I'd point out that good old Andre Ethier is hitting .313, has a .382 OBP, and slugging .537.

We got Antonio Perez who can't hit and Milton Bradley who is grounded.

I'm not saying that this was a bad trade, but in hindsight it is a bit sad. I think Ethier will slump eventually, bradley will produce once off the DL, and Perez will likely come round - but until then...

:(

Don't worry...
Perez almost hit .300 last year and look at him now.  He has been Ginterized.

Yeah, and lets get back Eric Byrnes.
He's hitting this week as well.

And let's trade Chavez, Street and Ellis because they've each had a bad week.

That'll help.

Is it that difficult to say Billy made a mistake
Let's face it Perez is the worst player in baseball, he has 1 hit and strikes out every time at bat and his fielding is not anything to talk about either and Milton Bradley is doing exactly what most thought he would do by sitting on the DL.  I'm not going to get overhyped by Ethier's start but let's face it he was one of our 2 best hitting prospects and he seems like he's going to be a good one in the bigs.

Perez hit .300 last year.
And I dare say, give Albert Pujols one at bat every four games, and I'd think he'd be flailing too.

This week the trade looks bad. Let's see how it looks in September before we start talking about sacking the god of Oakland.

The A's have a habit of burying middle infielder's
on their roster and keeping them inactive enough so that they can no longer do anything.
Frank Thomas is big.

just look at....
esteban german, who's been a utility infielder in the past...and look how he's performing for the royals. you gotta ask, why do players bloom once they leave the a's?

Take on this in LA Times
Last weekend the LA Times chimed in on this whole thing and said, paraphrasing here, that an old scout told the Dodger brass to get Ethier at all costs---because he was a good ball player and a good human being. Bradley has been a bust because of injuries, but I think he will contribute when he is healthy---unless his situation has made him bitter and petulant.  He does not do well when he is "the man"---he starts to think he really IS the man---and then he gets a big head. Trouble follows.  We should have kept Ethier.
