Ryan Shealy, one of my favorites (and one of grover's genious ideas that never came true) is still suck in AAA. Looking at the lineup card, the only places he can play are OF corners (with luck), 3B (highly unlikely) and 1B/DH. The Rockies are unbelievably in those spots:
Holliday (LF), Hawpe (RF), Atkins (3B) are all hitting over 300, and Todd Helton is entrenched at first. The most logical solution for the Rockies is to trade Shealy, since all the rest of the guys are young as well.
They obviously need pitching. Francis is a great start, and Cook is a solid 2. Jennings is serviceable (and a great hitter). They have some nice prospects (like Juan Morillo, who has been great in AA so far).
Now, it may be early, but i propose the A's take advantage. My patience with Dan Johnson is waning.
How about this:
Trade Dan Johnson and lower level prospectto the Pirates for Tom Gorzelanny (tearing up AAA:http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/stats/player.php?id=452733) and a smaller prospect.
Then trade Gorzelanny and Shane Komine (who, while struggling in AAA is a power arm that can be of use in the rotation or that weak bullpen) for Ryan Shealy.
Shealy can be moved to LF, Swisher becomes the permanent 1B.
The great thing is that he's cheap and under control for 6 years. He's a great right handed pure hitter. Career .324 average in the minors. Frankly, i like him better than Johnson, and i like especially that he's righty.
Or, we could just trade Johnson and John Baker for Craig Wilson. That would be simple.
