OK. I'm a short time lurker and first time writer. BTW love this site. Makes me feel at home.
Ok here's my question:
Picture this, your sitting in the bleacher at the Coliseum have a frosty beverage in your souvenir cup, enjoying the giants getting the beat down by the A's. It's a perfect day, as usual when you hear Barry Bonds name called. Everyone in the section stands up and puts on their gloves and grabs their nets and throws their children on the shoulders and prepares for history. For you it's like a car crash, hate to see the aftermath but you just can't look away. First pitch, fast ball, crowd screams you stand still holding frosty beverage cold one. The section is going wild, all of a sudden the crush is on, your in the middle and splash right into your frosty beverage, stuck. No more frosty beverage, but a baseball with a very unusual logo on it.
You are standing with the famous number 715, 2nd place ball. There's no doubt and no arguments or fights, surround by A's fans, not SF fans. People clapping and patting you on the back. Security comes running down and they verify the ball and they offer you security. They walk you away from the section and ask you: So what are you going to do with it?
So, what would you do with it?
First, I know that I'd keep it and sell it to the highest bidder. No doubt. Pay bills and send my little A's fans to college. But..
What I'd really like to do is take a big green sharpie and write the biggest asterisk you have ever seen on it. I'd march it over to the Press Box and show as many writers and photographers as possible the ball. Then I'd ask them to deliver it to Barry.
That's what I'd like to do.
