Around SBN: Knicks 90, Raptors 87: "Shump and Lin wouldn't let us lose."

Joe Kennedy: Balls!

How great has this fucking guy been this year?  Yeah he had a couple baserunners on today, but he pushed on through like he didn't even notice.  13 games, 0 runs. Ok, that's great, but what I really can't get over is that the dude is throwing 93 f'n mph (he even hit 94 twice today.)  Joe Kennedy lived at 88 last year, even in relief.  Five extra ticks on the fastball and this dude has gone from effective (in relief) to something a lot more than that. It's a very very exciting start to his season.  He's done a great job.  I always feel safe and secure when Huston or Duke come into the game.  Joe Kennedy is closing in on that territory also.

I think a good point was made
that Kennedy will be about as good as he's used to his strengths. The more he has had to face good right-handed hitters, the more he has wobbled, and that is predictable. The "houdini act" won't last--the A's need to get him back into more of a LOOGY role or he will soon implode. Returns to health by Street, Loaiza, Harden, and Witasick will make this possible. Otherwise, we will need to tap him beyond his capabilities and the ERA will rise fast.

Joe Kennedy, 2006:
vs LHB (12 PAs): 273/333/455, 3 K
vs RHB (20 PAs): 211/250/263, 1 K

Small sample size and all, but I'm just sayin'...

Copernicus felt the same way about the geocentric crew.

Kennedy reset his approach
In spring training he explained that last year he was holding back, still trying to pitch like a starter who needed to last 6 innings.  This year he is letting it rip, knowing that he only has to pitch for an inning or two.  That is why his velocity is up.  It is what he credits for his success.

The best thing about Kennedy
Is that if he keeps this up, he'll earn us two draft picks.

hopefully
if he keeps this up, we'll get some W's in the left hand column of the standings...
