Spring Training recap and Pictures....Baseball is Back!! Good Times!!!

It has taken me a while to figure out what to post about our ST trip so here goes....Sorry everyone with a slow download... but there are some pictures attached to all of my rambling....

Star-divide

Well, well, well... we have just come back from ST in Arizona... what a fun few days it was... I am totally excited that baseball is back, now I am waiting for April 3rd with baited breath... and of course, camera in hand...
Flying in Thursday night was fairly uneventful, catching dinner and drinks in Tempe, was all we could muster after a long day... The Tavern is my new favorite bar, the drinks were made very well and incredibly inexpensive, not to mention the security guy that carded me and totally adorable bartender, I know carding me was just to be nice, but it made this old girls night....

Friday morning couldn't come fast enough, we headed to the park, and it was beautiful weather... St. Patrick's Day celebrating was in full swing by 10:30... Mark the beer guy at the stadium was in all his garb...and the boys were clowning around during warm-ups...Baseball is Back!!!  Good Times!! The A's played a good game but came up short in the 10th... Friday night proved to be just as exciting; who would have thought that a bar named McDuffy's would be so much fun on St. Patty's day... hmmmm.  We rode the shuttle from the hotel to McDuffy's with a man we now call "Angry Cubs Guy" who was fairly amusing with his ranting and raving about being "stuck in the desert"... why come to ST just to be miserable?...maybe being angry is a prerequisite for cubs fans??? Who knows?

Saturday was beautiful and sunny with just enough breeze to keep you comfortable, if not a bit chilly... Early entry day was very nice... chatting with Ray Fosse proved to be just as fun as I imagined, he has a really sweet personality and is quick witted... the players were in rare form for warm up, joking and laughing, letting their personalities show... Baseball is Back!!  Good Times!!!  Blanton started off well, except for a few bad calls from the umpire, which really seemed to irk him to no end. When he left the mound I believe he said something like "Do you even know what a strike zone is?" the umpires rebuttal was something like "Do you"... hmmmm not very nice in my opinion...The game was going well until the 7th when we had a bit of a meltdown; which led to a 9th inning rally but unfortunately we couldn't pull it out... final score 7-17...

Sunday was wet and cold... the tarp was on the field, the boys hiding in the dugout, we didn't know if there was even going to be a game.... But low and behold the field crew marched out and removed the tarp... Baseball is Back!!  Good Times!!!  The game was very exciting the Cubs were playing well, but our boys were better.... I even got a chance to heckle "Angry Cubs Guy" that I must say was very amusing...  There was one highlight of the game for me... The umpire made a really bad call at 2nd and the old man behind me yelled "Disappointed!" it was one of the funniest things I have heard in awhile... it is now going to be my answer for a particularly bad call... that and "Seriously?!?" which I have picked up from Grey's anatomy... The A's pulled it off an won 8-4... it was so good to hear Cool and the Gang...
Baseball is Back!!  Good Times!!!

Swish is crazy...
on Extra Innings he said he had a face for radio! This picture is evidence that the man is nuts!

I do have to say, I really liked his shaved head look. This mullet thing he has going on now is ok, but I liked the shaved look better. Or when it was REALLY long!  That was hot too.

Mulder Sighting
I'm kind of a lurker here on AN, and I saw this diary here about Spring Training and I wanted to share my own Spring Training story. I wasn't as lucky as some to get to see the A's play in Arizona, but I was able to make it down to Florida to see the Braves and Cardinals play. On my first day at the ballpark, I was standing next to the Cardinals' bullpen when lo and behold- the one and only Mark Mulder comes walking towards me!! Okay, he wasn't walking towards me so much as heading over to the bullpen, but I still felt special. Then later that afternoon (and after some coaxing from Tony LaRussa) , he signed some autographs! I have quite a few pictures of him but no idea how to post them online but if anyone is intersted in some Mulder pics I'd be more than willing to share! (sadly no Hudson sightings while I was there, though there was a cute article about him and his daughter in the Braves magazine)

by holy toledo on Mar 21, 2006 5:39 PM PST reply actions

I'm interested!
If you don't want to post them on AN, you could e-mail them to me. (cirquegirl14@yahoo.com). To host them online you first have to get them onto your computer (digital cameras can do that, otherwise, you can get them on a CD). If you're just e-mailing them, you can probably just attach them.

Did he
get rid of the High Socks during the game?!? That is just wrong!

High Socks is a good look for him! And we really should keep our middle infield consistant on this issue!
