A's commercials now on website.
Okay, I'm hoping that I'm ducking the diary police and not posting something that's already been reported. For those of you who haven't seen 'em yet, the first round of A's commercials are now up on the website. Just three of 'em so far.
The commercials definitely would have been better with Roy Steele providing the voiceovers, hopefully if they want to continue using that tactic in the midseason commercials, he'll be healthy enough to provide them.
The 'Holy Toledo' is just heartwarming. :-)

If you don't think Joe Blanton
It's obvious the A's are trying to use his sex appeal to sell tickets. It's no wonder opening day is already sold out...

Last two years were much better
I still think they shoulda gone with the classic "They're Young, But They Can Play" Pt. 2

They are OK
Anyone see the movie "Joy Ride"? with i think Paul Walker and Sean William Scott? Well the killer guy who says candy cane on the radio: The voiceover sounds like this guy. And that's just wierd.

Joy Ride...
It sort of sounds like Sam Elliott. I don't think it is, though. This is going to bother me until I find out.

Hasidic Reggae?
by Bronx A's Fan on Mar 21, 2006 10:21 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
I don't like the new CD
All the FXs piled on to the tracks detract from what makes Matisyahu great, his band. It feels like the major labels are trying to market him as a gimmick; a Hasidic jew singing reggae and not as music with a deep and resounding message.
Live at Stubb's is a much better album.

Some are on the website.
The older ones... I dunno, I've been looking for those for awhile. :-( Since MLB switched off realplayer, the old links they used to have in articles to them no longer work.

I think the commercials are great
This year is more subtle in it's humor, but it feels more realistic. I mean, I could totally see Danny shaving in the bathroom for 20 minutes just to have Huston walk in, take one look at himself and leave. Brilliant! Or Blanton in the weight room using a thigh master, Genius! It is like they spent a day in the clubhouse and created commercials out of the things that happened that day.
The last few years have been a little more outrageous. I mean, they were funny, but they would never happen in real life. (With the exception of Stomper getting stuck in a tree.) These commercials you could totally see happening for real. That is what makes them so funny!
So far, Goatee is my favorite. Danny is just so strangely hot in that one. But of course I can't wait for the rest of them to be posted on the website. I would love to get a DVD of all the A's commercials from the last 5 years or whatever. They are just wonderful!
