Athletics Nation Podcasts Live

I've taken it upon myself to set up a free podcasting host with switchpod for A's Nation since Blez admits to not being able to edit his mp3 files. (I'll happily show you how to do it with the freeware, Audacity, Blez)  Anyway, here's the URL to add to your aggregator. For iTunes, its under Advanced... Subscribe to Podcast URL..

http://switchpod.com/users/asnation/feed.xml

no, clicking on it won't let you hear the interview. this is for podcasting which means you can subscribe to it and automatically download it when a new audio file is available. i tested it, since its free there is a small ad inserted. subscribe, and i'll stick the mp3 files when they're posted to the site.  Keep the audio interviews coming, Blez, Nico.

Thank you, I subscribed too.

Thanks!
I just subscribed. My question though, is Duke's interview the only thing on it so far? It is the only thing that downloaded. I would really like to have the Bobby one! ;)

I'm apparently a f'n idiot
Or should that be an f'n idiot?

See, I'm such an idiot that I don't even know how to express that I'm an idiot.

Are you using iTunes?
If not, then you will want to cut and paste the link into a podcast "aggregator."

I'm using iTunes
And I can't figure this out.

Help.

Pretty pretty please?

I use iTunes...
...at home (but I'm at work now).

When I tried last night, I didn't see a choice of "Subscribe to Podcast URL" under Advanced in iTunes...  :(

I can't recall the exact menu
but there is a menu (not advanced) where you can select "subscribe to podcast". From there you enter the URL. It's NOT through the podcast window of the iTunes store.

I might have seen that while poking around...
I'll try again when I get home tonight. What's it supposed to do after you enter the URL?  (I'm a podcast newbie... have only used iStuff for music so far...)

after you add the URL
it should automatically bring up the podcast screen and start downloading the first one. You'll have to select each one (there's a button that says "GET") in order to download it.

update your version
make sure you have the latest version of itunes...  if you have the latest version, it should be excruciatingly simple.

I did a search on Oakland Athletics in
the regular Itunes and it brought up Mean in Green with a handfull of podcasts from the 2005 season...downloaded one but have not listened to it yet.

Very good
the one I picked last night to read (from last year)I dozed off to sleep while the host was talking about insecticide spraying in his neighborhood in Sacramento.

Was I really THAT boring? :P
Harsh words, alaska... sniff... J/K ;)

I'm the host of the Mean In Green podcast. YES, I know (now :P) that no one cared about insecticide spraying other than me and YES, I'm sure that I probably caused a few commuter fender benders with that one, but they aren't ALL like that! :)

Case in point, I'm pretty proud of the one I just posted yesterday, which is the first of the new season. I'm planning on posting at least one more before I head down for the last week of Spring Training -- probably Sunday or Monday.

No problem
I listen to all kinds of podcasts so the intro commentary was nothing new to me...that's part of their "charm".  I fix my Ipod into a base with speakers by my bed when I retire...just extra tired the other night.  Will probably get try it again later on.

Kudos to you for having done one on the A's in the first place..yours may be among the first.  I was mildly shocked when I saw this was last season....as I got my Mac last July...and never noticed it until the other day.

Well...
I'm pretty sure I was the first to do one. I did a pretty thorough googlin' before making the decision to do it. I figured that if there was already one being done, I'd probably just support the existing effort.

Thanks for kudos and I hope you continue listening.

Y'know
the A's new "flagship" station, 1550AM, is all about rebroadcasting people's podcasts (can you say "cheap programming").

AN on the air anyone ?

all right...
I finally got around to this...

I updated my iTunes version (I still had v4, now have v6), found the "subscribe to podcast," entered the URL, and it downloaded the "Duke part two" interview... but no others.

AND almost all of my library, including purchased music, disappeared when I updated, so I'm a little pissed off, but that's obviously not the podcast's fault...  }8-[

RE: all right...
I'm pretty sure iTunes' default settings only download the first episode of the feed. When you click the little disclosure triangle, it should show the others as greyed with individual 'GET' buttons next to each of them to download the others. Do you not see the other episodes? If not, are you on a Mac or PC?

...glad that worked for you...
Also, if you didn't already find it, go into iTunes preferences and find the podcast settings. You can select how often you want it to check for new shows and what you want it to do if it finds a new episode.
