A's should trade for Pujols!!!

Now I know what you all are thinking how the heck can Beane swindle Pujols from the cards???? But we all know that the cards gm Jocetty can be had easily as evidenced by the Mulder deal. We got 3 great players for nothing!!!! Mulders arm fell off within two years!!! if we can do that to St Louis than we can do it again.

Now all we have to do is in my opinion trade a few prospects. Even a good one like Darin Barton but i think it will be worth it. The cardinals are looking for pitching this year just like everyone else so I say we trade Halsey as well. He's just not that good so we don't need him but the Cards could use another starter. Then if we throw in a prospect like Shane Komine we don't need the Cardinals would probably take it. They would be getting Barton back and two good starters and we would be getting the best firstbaseman in the game!!!!

Billy Beane, I really think you should make this trade!! It would give us the offensive guy we really need for this team plus we would not be really hurting ourselves for the future. I know Pujols makes a lot of money but if we can trade away Kendall and start Jermey Brown then we can afford it. We also need starting pitching, so if we can trade Kendall and two young prospects we can get Roy Halliday!! Plus I think Kotsay is taking up too much money so we should trade him, Joe Blanton, 2 prospects and a bucket of shit for Carlos Beltran and Pedro Martinez and Billy Wagner from the mets.

Our lineup would look like this:

2B Ellis
RF Bradley
CF Beltran
1B Pujols
LF Swisher
DH Piazza
3B Chavez
SS Crosby
C  Brown

and our rotation would be

SP Halliday
SP Martinez
SP Harden
SP Haren
SP Loiaza

and the bullpen would be

CL Street
RL Wagner
RL Duke
RL Calero
RL Embree
RL Gaudin

This would be the most awesome A's team ever!!! I really think you should make these trades Billy!!! now I know that this would be kinda hard to pull off
but if theres any GM in the game that can do it it's you Billy!! Please make my Christmas this year a good one!!!!!

Joke...
This is a joke right?  Alberty "Winnie the Pooh" Pujols is sacred in St. Louis.  He will not be going ANYWHERE!

Wow...
That's a lot of effort to make a point.

The only way these trades go down...
...is if Saarloos and Ginter are somehow included in the package so as to pucs the enticements over the tipping point.

Unfortunately...
Ginter is a free agent...so sadly, this deal will fall apart : (

by franks a lot on Dec 7, 2006 1:28 PM PST up reply actions

Okay first off...
Darin Barton?
Roy Halliday?

Then there is the idea of trading Barton back to the Cards.

Unless it was made by a 10-year-old, then it's just cute.

Subtlety
The author's post rather cleverly employs the obsurd to illustrate a subtle point. Personally, I find it weel done.

Nice parody thread.
But they key is, what kind of shit is in that bucket?  If it's just plow horse shit, there's no way the Mets take that.

Sure we got Haren,Calero and Barton from
the "one sided" trade, but the Cardinals won a World Series. I'm sure they would do it all over again.

by Vegas A's Fan on Dec 7, 2006 2:19 PM PST reply actions

Yeah
and how exactly did the trade help them do that? Was it Mulder's 6-7 regular season record with a 7.14 ERA, or was it his veteran presence on the Disabled List during the playoffs?

by andeux on Dec 7, 2006 2:31 PM PST up reply actions

Oh, that's easy ...
if they had Haren, having an additional non cripple in the rotation would have taken up too much playing time, causing unrest among the other pitchers over a lack of innings, destroying team chemistry.

Also, it's clear that the Cards won because of an abundance of spleen -- that spleen was built on the fact that they ahd something to prove, due to their pathetic record. Had they had more talent in the rotation they would have won too many games, causing them to get fat and lazy.

by devo on Dec 7, 2006 4:35 PM PST up reply actions

Chill out..all I was saying is if
you told the Cardinals that they could have an injured Mark Mulder for Haren,Calero and Barton and they would win a championship, they would take it anyday.

by Vegas A's Fan on Dec 7, 2006 4:49 PM PST up reply actions

Or then
if you told them they could have a WS along with Calero, Haren, and Barton instead of an injured Mulder...

Where's the link on King Albert being available?
http://www.latimes.com/sports/printedition/la-sp-dodgers7dec07,1,7895742.story?coll=la-headlines-pe- sports&ctrack=1&cset=true

Penny, the National League starter in the All-Star game, is the most likely trade bait because his temper problems became tiresome to the Dodgers and he had a poor second half.

However, executives from other teams said Penny's stock has dropped to the point that it could be difficult for the Dodgers to deal him for a proven hitter unless they also include at least one top prospect. A possible trade partner could be the Toronto Blue Jays, whose general manager, J.P. Ricciardi, likes Penny. Blue Jays center fielder Vernon Wells has one year left on his contract and isn't likely to re-sign with Toronto, so Ricciardi could be open to trading him

http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/angels/la-sp-angels7dec07,1,7379427.story?coll=la-headlin es-sports

The Angels could also make a run at Texas first baseman Mark Teixeira or Seattle third baseman Adrian Beltre, but it's doubtful the Rangers or Mariners would trade within the division, and such a deal would require the Angels to part with a pitcher such as John Lackey, Ervin Santana or Jered Weaver.

What needs to happen is...
that we sign every free agent on the market.

That's right. Every last one.

And not just this year, but every year for a few years.

Oh, I know it may take a few hundred million, but we're not selling jeans here. The owners, on the other hand(or leg, if you will), are. They selling so many jeans that they burn rolls of hundred dollar bills in every fireplace in their fifty room mansion all winter to keep them warm, and still not affect their schwanky lifestyle.

Anyhoo, once we've cornered the marke on free agents, we will then CONTROL the market, and if anybody wants a player, they have to deal with US! And we'll charge them up the wazoo, because they'll HAVE NO CHOICE!

Make it happen, Fischer-man.

I agree
I think the four poo-holes the A's should trade are Kotsay, Kendall, Loaiza, and Witasick.
