Piazza will make decision TODAY

Will Mike Piazza be doing the Texas two-step or getting hyphy?

Free agent Mike Piazza was weighing an offer from Oakland on Tuesday night about becoming the Athletics' designated hitter, with his agent saying an announcement was expected Wednesday.
...
"I think we're close with one of the teams," Piazza's agent, Dan Lozano, told The Associated Press on Tuesday night. "It's hard to say what direction Mike is going. He has a decision to make. There are still some issues to be worked out. I'd like to think it will be done sometime tomorrow."

Lozano spoke several times Tuesday with A's general manager Billy Beane, who was expected to arrive in Florida sometime Wednesday for a brief stay at the four-day baseball winter meetings.

By sometime today, Mike Piazza will be somewhere in the American League West. Piazza is looking at a one-year offer from Oakland worth $8 million-$9 million, according to two sources familiar with the negotiations, and he's also got a proposal from Texas for a one-year deal with a player option for a second year.
