Open Thread: ANers Holiday List

As the holidays approach this year, I started to realize that I'm close to maxed out on how much A's memorabilia I have.  I know it's hard to believe, but I pretty much wear A's gear all the time especially during the season.

I've been collecting A's gear for so long now that I realized that I have my favorites.  I'm minimalist when it comes to A's gear as I like something that simply has the trademarked "A's" on it or something that just simple says, "Oakland Athletics."

So I got to wondering how many of you ask for A's gear and other things related to the A's for your holiday gifts?  What will your loved ones be scrambling to get for you this holiday season?  Have your eye on that Justin Duchscherer jersey?  Or that beautiful A's hoodie?  Or perhaps something else?

I haven't done an open thread since the season ended, so hijack away, ladies and gents.

Are you kidding?!
My family thinks I own too much A's gear (clothing) as it is.  I wear it almost every day, even during the off season.

jerseys
i have the green alternate jersey that i rarely wear. i found out i'm not much of a jersey-wearing person BUT i DO want the grey road jersey with chavez's name and number on the back!

other than that, i've pretty much maxed out with A's stuff at this point also. i'm waiting for some cool, new t-shirt designs to come out!

i am still looking for some cute green and yellow sneakers to match my A's gear though!

Except a couple of things:

a) Not sure that lil' BBG is ever going to be born. BBG Mom needs to get a move-on, if that is going to be the case.

b) BBG definitely wants a boy; girls can't play in MLB.

c) Jeter will almost certainly be retired by that point. ;)

I'd love to have that
for my 8-month old twins Jacob and Claire.  Living in Cincinnati, I expect that they will be Reds fans (which is okay), but my goal is for at least one to develop the love for the A's that I have!

My wife, when she got her first positive result on the pregnancy test, made a little sign that said: I got an <insert A's logo> on the test!  Since then, I've wanted little A's fans running around the house

My daughter Samantha was born in June, and that was the first thing I bought her. i have some game used dirt
it came from record breaking win number 17 in a row for the franchise back on august 31, 20002 (this was obviously during the 20 game win streak).  after win number 17 though, they had a firework show; and so out on to the field i went to watch the fireworks.  and since it was a memorable time i made sure to collect some memorabilia: field grass, foul grass, and field dirt.  this was during a time when the security on the field for fireworks was much less; hell, they'd even let one sit in the A's bullpen, and left the visitors bullpen mound and plate unblocked off.

Always
It happens in all sports now with trades and free agency but it just seems like a potential waste of money. I'm not a purchaser of throwbacks, but I certainly understand why people want them. At least you know Cal Ripken or Magic Johnson can't retroactively change teams on you.

None of that stops me from wanting a Danny Haren shirt, though. C'mon Santa. I'm counting on you.

All I get anymore is
A's gear.  I have 2 A's watches, several A's muggs, T-shirts to numerous to count.  I have an A's jacket for winter attire and a couple of jersey's.  I don't like jersey's with player names.  I never could get over being 40 years old and wearing a shirt with a guys name on the back.  It's ok for a kid who is emulating his hero, but it freaks me out on a personal level.  I don't fault anyone else for doing so, but it just freaks me out on a personal level.

Funny thing is, A's gear is ALL I get for Christmas.  I think someone is buying me a portable radio so I can listen to the game on the radio while at the game.

But this year I have asked for an AL West champions shirt...and an alternate green A's jersey with no name on it.  A's players leave too often.

My current A's jersey has a 15 Hudson on the back...and I got it only a few days before Hudson was traded away...oops.  I'd hate to jinx any more players like that.

A's Hoodie

If anybody knows where I can find one of these, you'd be my hero.  I saw one on eastbay.com, but it was only available in small, so I stole the image and have been hunting ever since.  I even tried posting to craig's list begging for somebody to sell me one, but for some reason it was flagged as spam.  Guess I begged too much and it seemed like a scam.
