I got this from the good folk at mlbtraderumors.com. Everyone's probably seen the link on espn.com already, but for those who haven't heard...on Buster Olney's Insider blog, he says the Jays are shopping Alex Rios and are looking for a pitcher to complete their rotation. He mentions that, among others, Joe Blanton could fit the bill.
Seeing the discussion over who could play CF for us after we deal Kotsay, trading for Rios seems like a viable option, although it seems to me that the Jays could leverage one of our better prospects from us in addition to Blanton (Travis Buck?). Personally, I'd love to try to get Rios. Before that freak staph infection, he was hitting for both average and power, although that might have something to do with hitting in the third spot, right in front of Glaus and Wells.
Either way, this is the main question: is Blanton, or any of our pitching, expendable?
Secondary question: is Rios a good fit in our outfield?
