With the A's seemingly coming into the money AND the A's in need of a manager AND there not being anyone out there who screams "I'll follow your philosophy AND win you a world championship along the way" AND since all of our coaching staff seems to be leaving anyway AND because I'm bored on a Wednesday afternoon, I officially nominate, in the tradition of Bobby Cox (who lead the Braves to 14 consecutive division titles after leaving the GM post) Billy Beane for manager of the 2007 Oakland A's.

Furthermore, I nominate Carney Lansford are new 3B/IF coach.  And Rickey Henderson, the greatest stolen base leader of all time, our new 1B/OF coach (oh, wait, we don't steal bases....I retract my nomination of Rickey Henderson).  However, I think hitting coach Rickey Henderson, Athletics' all time walks and runs leader, sounds pretty damn good, don't you?  

Actually, this was meant to be a joke, but Lansford was a hell of a defender and his son is in the organization....and Rickey does still want to be involved and he certainly does fit the take a pitch mold....hmmm.....Billy Beane is a genus and it would be great to see him matched up against LaRussa in a late innings fall classic....
