The offseason

In a way, I think I like the Offseason better than the season. It is very exciting to have the GM chess match going on. It is exciting to hear macha getting fired, disappointing to hear washington got hired by the Rangers, and suspenseful waiting for the A's to sign Frank Thomas. It is also always a mystery to find out what Billy Beane is going to do. Maybe he will somehow sign Zito back or get Mulder for cheap. It is just fun to see what happens every day and that isn't including all the things Lew Wolff has been doing. Then after the offseason is over you get to watch how all the moves will play out and try to analyze everything that could have been while watching "Your Oakland (Fremont, San Jose) Athletics" blossom into a world series contender. So, I am excited the offseason has started. I guess it isn't the destination that makes everything memorable but the journey along the way. And this is just the beggining.

Have fun and enjoy the offseason my fellow Athletics Nation Friends!!!!

I couldn't DISAGREE more!!
I HATE the offseason! HATE IT!! I hate hearing all these trade rumors and speculations. I hate that feeling I have in my stomach every time I read the news looking for A's info, half hoping I won't see anything, because then I know it will be a drama-less day.

I hate, hate, HATE thinking that I may wake up in the morning and see the dreadful news that we signed Bonds or let one of my precious boys go!

I hate hearing the writers write something just so they can throw a bunch of crap on a wall and see what will stick! All the speculation in the world will never make it so! So just shut the hell up!

I truly HATE the off season! HATE IT! I just want to watch the GAME!!! Why is that so dificult? Oh yeah, cause it is November! <sobs>

But that's not what you said yesterday
...when you heard about the Hayward Athletics of Fremont!

I'm with BBG on this one
I do like it when I hear something that BB has done, but hate all the silly rumors concocted by drunk sportswriters who have nothing to write about, or worse yet silly trades dreamed up on AN which have no chance of ever happening.  So many things BB does falls under the radar but work out very well, such as the unmentioned trades last year for Gaudin and Halsey.  Interestingly enough, some things that got rave reviews failed miserably such as getting Perez in the Bradley/Ethier deal.  Which brings up the point of what happened to Ethier.  Early in the season he was on his way to the HOF, by the end of the year he didn't even get into a game, makes me wonder.

China Bob...
Something that's always bothered me about that Eithier trade. Nobody wanted Bradley because of his reputation and the Dodgers just wanted to get rid of him. So, couldn't the A's have swung a deal for Bradley without giving up their best prospect--and by all accounts a great kid with a great  attitude? Sounds like the Dodger GM outsmarted the A's. I know you  don't agree.

I have to agree with BBG and CB
I am first and foremost a baseball fan. I most enjoy watching and arguing about baseball games, the players, etc....and since it's such a long season I welcome the offseason to do other things.

(okay, why am I writing this? obviously, trying to avoid starting work today!)

I am retired and believe me
that is something to strive for, wake up every morning and do exactly what you want to do, if that means spending time reading AN, so be it, what else is more fun?
