AN Road Trip???

A couple of monthes ago someone posted an idea for a road trip.

I think it was to Van. B.C., Sac. CA, Stockton CA, and Oakland if I remember right.

I am starting to plan some vaction time in for next year and I wanted to know if this or maybe some other road trip might be on.

If not this trip what about going down to see LAA and doing the AN section thing again.

I couldn't make it at the end of the season last year but, it looked like great fun.

Maybe we could organize a softball game agains't Halos in heaven?

Any thought's or ideas or dates out there in AN land?

I know the schedule for the A's is only tentative to this point though.

I am going to New York
The last week of June (22-30) to see the A's play the Mets and Yankees!! This trip is pretty much set in stone for me. So anyone going to be in New York that week, let me know!

That was Saint and I...
..and though we haven't been doing much planning over the holidays, as far as I'm concerned, it's on.

The way I'd like it to go (and of course this is open to debate) is Vancouver BC to Washington/Oregon (Vancouver road game), then Stockton, maybe a Stockton road game if it works out, then on to Sacramento, then Oakland.

And if the timing works out, maybe we can catch the A's playing in Seattle along the way.

It's hard to figure specifics, because schedules are still dribbling out, but if it were to include Vancouver, it would have to be Mid-June or later.

The details on the cost side are still to be figured, but the ideal situation would be to get a bus or a big-ass van or something and take a few weeks to get through it all, so you'd need to set aside some time off, some cash for accommodation, some gas money, some grocery money, and some "of course we'll stay in touch, baby" money.

I'm budgeting a grand for the whole thing for myself, but I think we can do it much cheaper than that. I'm going to try to arrange some comped tickets up north, for starters.

Oh, and those of us who don't play drums will likely be instructed to learn.

That is the route I'd like as well:
Start in Vancouver then go to:

Seattle
Portland
Stockton
Sac
Oakland (Maybe we can time it with AN Day IV)

And Hell Yeah!!!
Drums are encouraged!!!

2-3 weeks is a bit too long for me.

I'm thinking:

Fly to Vancouver on a Friday
Watch a game on Saturday
Get to Seattle by Sunday
Game on Monday or Tuesday or Both
Portland on Wednesday
Stockton on Friday
Oakland on Sunday.

Or some combo thereof.

Here are the options..
...assuming an 8-10 schedule.

Option #1 - The U-Turn
JUNE
19th All-Star game in Stockton
20-21 Sac in Tacoma
22-23 Van in Vancouver
24-25 Van in Yakima
27-29 Sac in Sacramento
29-30 Sto in San Jose

Option #2 - The Lilypad Leaper
JULY
30-1 Van in Vancouver (Canada Day fireworks)
2-3 Van in Spokane
4-6 Sac in Fresno
7-8 Sto in Stockton

Option #3 - Tour de Coastline
JULY
8-9 Van in Vancouver
11-12 Van in Salem-Keizer
12-14 Sac in Sacramento
15-16 Sto in Modesto
17-18 Sto in Stockton

Option #4 - The Yawner
JULY
20-21 Van in Vancouver (nooner)
22-23 Van in Everett
24-26 Sac in Sacramento
27-28 Sto in Rancho Cucamonga

Option #5 - What Happens in Vegas...
AUGUST
6-7 Van in Vancouver
8-9 Van in Tri-City
10-13 Sac in Las Vegas
14-15 Sto in Stockton

Option #6 - The Northwest Express
AUGUST
14-15 Van in Vancouver (nooner)
16-17 Sto in Portland
   18 Van in Salem-Keizer
19-21 Sac in Tacoma
22-23 Sac in Sacramento
24-25 Sto in Lancaster

Now, none of these include Oakland or Seattle games because I haven't found a 2007 MLB schedule as of yet, so you could assume that rather than spending two days in Lancaster, for example, one of those days might fit nicely in Oakland, or Anaheim, or LA, or Seattle, or wherever the hell the A's might be playing on a given day.

I REALLY like the idea of a side-trip through Vegas, if the MLB dates can match up well, and the 6th option, where Sac comes up to play Portland, would make for an interesting zig zag route with plenty of ballparks seen...

Anyways, that's the base dates.

oop.
On option 6, where I put Sto in Portland on the 16-17 August, that should obviously be Sac.

I'm down with OP. Yeah, you know me.
Okay, looking at the MLB sked, option 1 is out (A's away).

Option 2 could work but would butt up against the all-star break. Might be able to cram in an A's game, but it's not ideal.

Option 3 works great, as we'd be taking in minors games during the all-star break, then get back to Oaktown for a nice home stretch against the Rangers/Orioles.

Option 4 falls just short of the Seattle away series, which sucks, unless people were prepared to spend an extra day or two in Seattle (or head back from Sacramento - unlikely)

Option 5, the Vegas trip, is perfect, as it ends right as Oakland starts a homestand against the White Sox and KC.

Option 6 doesn't work as well, since the A's don't get back to homebase for a few days after we're done, though you would only be missing the KC home games on this option.

Dudes, I think it's Vegas.

Option 3 encompasses my Birthday:
Option 2 means that I have to take less time off of work because the 4th of July Holiday will give me one or two extra days off.

Whichever one it is. I'm sure we'll work it out.

Hey, Oz, maybe you can be the writer on the journey?

This promises to be one for the ages!!!

I mean, how many people dream of doing something like this some day?

By the time we are done we will have seen 5-6 ballparks and every A's ML team except for Kane County!!!!

And Midland.
For sure, I'll write the heck out of it.

Options 3 and 5 look the most doable, from my perspective. And if it was 5, with a Vegas stopover, we could conceivably have people who aren't on the road trip but wouldn't mind a few days in Vegas join in, thus making it a big AN time.

Anaheim?
The A's have a series the first week of April in Anaheim... it would be cool to get something together again.

But I and a few other midwest A's Fans will be making the long drive out from Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and possibly even Nebraska (hint hint!) March 10-17.
