Earlier this year i wrote in frustration how the a's and my favorite football team, the detroit lions were so dissimilar. But in light of the recent events of frank thomas leaving and sudden vacancies I have a new insight into a's-footbal relationships. The A's are very similar to the Indianapolis Colts. Smart front office, recent injury history, the inabilty to get far in the playoffs thus far. Now last year, the colts lost thier marquee player, Edgerin James. Many people though their run was over. Now look at them: 9-0. Lesson: dont write off the a's, and think that just because zito, payton, and frank are gone, that Billy wont find a way.
