BBG made the post with the question: "What is so great about Mark Ellis?" and then 101 people commented. And not one of them came up with this little factoid: Mark Ellis played in the Twins series, and the A's won. Mark Ellis did not play in the Tigers series and the A's got swept. And Jimenez made as many errors in the Tigers series as Ellis made in the 2006 season. That is circumstantial and anecdotal, but I say if Ellis doesn't break his finger the A's might have won the world series this year. Look at what happened in the WS? The Tigers pitchers made an error in every game, and they lost to an inferior Cards team. Errors are costly any time, but in the playoffs, when all the games are tight, and all the teams are good, errors are totally devastating. Ask Bill Buckner. I am absolutely convinced Ellis is the best 2b in baseball. Wash says so, and I have seen enough to agree. Scutaro is a fine backup, both Scutaro and Ellis should stay. The pop we need should come from where pop comes from, outfielders and first basemen. I don't know what to do about Crosby. I want Miggy back.
