Around SBN: Are The Orioles Bad Or Unlucky With Their Young Pitching?

Open Playoff Thread: Game 1 - A's at Minnesota (cont.)

A's still up 2-0 going to the seventh.  Zito just got out of his first jam.  If I'm Macha, I start up the bullpen very soon.  Yes, Zito has been great, but you HAVE to win this game now that you're into the seventh with the lead against Santana.

LET'S GO OAK-LAND!!!!!!!!

Frank Thomas's main asset to this team is hitting, not baserunning.

Really, Joe?

Phew!
Big managing mistake by Macha.  Doesn't end up costing us a thing (other than thousands of years off of ANers' collective lifespan).

Clear that Zito was done when Rondell
White took him deep.  Now a double to Bartlett?

That fan in LF
just threw back a post-season HR from a first-ballot HoF'er.

I hope he has a lot of money saved up for his retirement!

win or lose
you gotta go with your best.  if you look at zito's career numbers he is one of the best pitchers in oakland athletics history.  he has come up huge today and i don't have a problem letting him go for it in the 9th.

waiting to exhale
We are at the cusp of advancing to the ALCS, but a note of caution first.  We need to score first in Game 3 and keep the momentum in our corner.  The A's also should close it out Friday to keep the needless pressure off the team from its recent playoff past.  This is not the late 1980's Bash Brothers offensive juggernaut or the early 70's dynasty team that thrived on pressure.  With this current team, I am impressed with Marco Scutaro and especially Nick Swisher who is playing free and easy out there.  The Big Hurt has helped tremendously and Chavez's defense is sterling.  If the A's advance, I will be one of the few, the proud, the A's fan in the middle of hostile territory here in New York.  Go A's
