Stadium Survey

I'm doing a research project on MLB stadiums for school, and I need to do a survey for field research. I would aprreciate if some members of AN responded.

2.If yes, how often per year?

3. If your local MLB team built a new stadium would you:

a. be more likely to attend a game
b. be less likely to attend a game
c. not affected.

4. If you answered a above, which of these reasons would best explain your answer (check all that apply):

-new features
-more comfortable seats
-media attention
-attractiveness of new stadiums
-other:__

5. If you answered b to question 3, which of these reasons would best explain your answer (check all that apply):

-higher ticket prices
-sentimental attachment to old stadium
-unatractiveness of new stadiums
-other:

actually, i am changing my answer for # 3
if the A's get a new ballpark, i will probably go to LESS games because i wouldn't be able to afford going to as many due to higher prices and also the distance will be a factor for weekday games (if they move to fremont).

Painful answers
  1.  Yes
  2.  30 games/year
  3.  B, less likely
  4.  n/a
  5. higher ticket prices
  6. B, winning team in a old stadium (does anyone think A?)
  7. New stadium (even though it will deprive me of 15-20 ballgame trips a year).

You may well already be doing this, but I'd strongly suggest surveying some far more casual fans, or even non-fans, as you sample is otherwise going to be skewed (unless you're simply after what hardcore fans want):

1.Have you ever been to a MLB game?  Yes

2.If yes, how often per year?  11 times this year.  Ranges from 10-20.

3. If your local MLB team built a new stadium would you:

a. be more likely to attend a game
b. be less likely to attend a game
c. not affected.

6. Would you prefer a or b?
a-a losing team in a new stadium
b-a winning team in a old stadium

7. Would you prefer a brand new stadium or renovations to an old stadium?  Depends on the situation.  In the case of the A's, a new stadium, since this one can't be effectively renovated for baseball.

Why not...

2.If yes, how often per year? I went to about 55 this year, plus 5 in other parks

3. If your local MLB team built a new stadium would you:
I have to explain why I pick A. If they move to Fremont, the stadium will be seriously 5 minutes from my house! So I have already said, I would get the FULL season if they move to Fremont. If they just build another one in Oakland, I will NOT be affected.

Heeerrrrreeee we goooo.....
1.Have you ever been to a MLB game? Yes

2.If yes, how often per year? 70+ games in OAK, plus 1 or 2 road trips every year.

3. If your local MLB team built a new stadium would you:

a. be more likely to attend a game
b. be less likely to attend a game
c. not affected.

6. Would you prefer a or b?
a-a losing team in a new stadium
b-a winning team in a old stadium

7. Would you prefer a brand new stadium or renovations to an old stadium? It depends on the stadium. For the Coliseum, I'd like to see renovations, specifically, putting several sticks of dynamite in Mt. Davis and pushing the plunger. On the other side, while i've never been to a game at the Kingdome, i've heard all the bad stories about that place. I have been to Safeco several times, and it is a wonderful place to see a game. Same goes with PETCO Park. If its built right (read: not overdone), new stadiums are great. In general, though, as long as its not extremely expensive to renovate, I rather see renovations done. Home sweet home, I guess.

  1. Yes
  2. Not counting the World Baseball Classic and Spring Training, I went to about 24 Major League games this year. Overall, adding in minors and the rest I was closer to 45 games, a new personal record in one season.
  3. c. not affected.
  4. N/A
  5. N/A
  6. b-a winning team in a old stadium
  7. New stadium, unless it meant getting rid of the Raiders, tearing down Mt. Davis, going back to the old setup and moving the dugouts and infield seats closer to the action. In other words, new stadium.

I prefer renovations.  I'm sentimentally attached to a park where I've experienced so many wonderful memories.  I know the ballpark isn't the best, but it's what I've grown up with and grown to love.  Anyways, while I'm at the game, I spend it sitting in my seat; I don't need anything more than a seat to enjoy the game.

THE STADIUM IS SECONDARY, I REALLY DON'T CARE. I CANNOT SEE RENOVATING THE COLISEUM IN ANY MEANINGFUL WAY, AND THE PREVAILING ATTITUDE IS THAT WE NEED A NEW STADIUM. AS LONG AS ANY CHANGES INVOLVE LOSING THE RAIDERS I AM ALL FOR IT - BASEBALL ONLY.
