Chavy and Witasick for ARod

You gotta give something to get something.
Lets trade our third baseman to the Yankees for an out of position shortstop, God knows neither team is giving up clutch hitting. they need relievers, maybe they'll take Witasick.

To the A's fans that say no thanks, I'd rather have Chavez, my response: ARE YOU CRAZY? ARod brings way more to the offense, he is a legitimate #4 hitter in the prime of his career on the way to the hall of fame. He would give us above average defense at SS, sorry BoCro, and a solid presence in the lineup.

Chavy would be a role player in NY, great defense would win the fans over, and he'd probably hit 7th or 8th in the lineup. The expectations on him would be much lower. this is a reasonably face saving move for the Yanks, and they might take it.

As for Witasick, hopefully they'll take him too.

As for BoCro, trade him for a part we can use or give him a position in the outfield and tell him to learn how to hit the outside pitch.

The Yankees aren't stupid.
There's no way they want that trade.

Unlike the NY fans and talk
radio hosts, the Yankee management isn't dumb.

Really?
To be honest, if A-Rod really is as played out with his teammates in NY as they make it seem, I don't see why New York wouldn't do it...

Chavez is GOING to bounce back next year.  Let him get healthy, let him re-focus-he is going to be just fine.  A-Rod is older, not as good defensively, and not as good in the clubhouse (although I know a lot on this site might disagree with that part)...

But on a more serious note...how the hell is this posted DURING the game?  Why am I responding to it?  And which player is more Mexican?

so throw in a starting pitcher
maybe Harden before he gets hurt again, or Blanton

yankee management has done many dumb things
including huge dough to Pavano, good money to Wright, and trading for Randy Johnson at the end of his career. They might do it.

if i was the yankees GM, i'd make that trade
but only because i'm an a's fan.

I'd admire the homer attitude
and absolute lack of professionalism.
Why yes. I am a ray of warm and fuzzy sunshine.

Why?
Why would NY want Chavez, so that they could have a less talented version of A-Rod who has shown even less ability to handle pressure than A-Rod?  Not even Steinbrenner is that stupid.  Chavez would completely collapse under the pressure of the NY media.

better defense at third
and a fresh start, if you add a starting pitcher, it is sellable to the fans.

LOL
I'm thinking the deal would get hung up over Witasick.

ROFL
this is the most laughable trade offer i've heard in a while.

Hey, maybe St. Louis will take Bobby Crosby and Brad Halsey for Albert Pujols?

Yes
Here's how we could make it more balanced.  Take Connie Mack's trade but they throw in Wang and we give them Saarloos, Jimenez and Perez.

perez is due

3 of our players for their 1?
That has to be imbalanced in their favor, because 3 is more than 1.

if you give them someone like haren as well
then there is a decent chance they would make that deal.  however, then we would be short on pitching.

by jasonlbe on Oct 14, 2006 5:28 PM PDT reply actions

That would make it interesting
Doubt Beane would do it, but something like Chavez and Haren is what it would take to get A-Rod.

We're not deep enough in pitching
to have the needed chips to get A-Rod.

Hopefully more controversy will happen in the offseason to hurt his value (since lord knows his value will always be HIGH).

Now, if anyone can pull off a three-or-four-team-deal to get A-Rod to Oakland, it's Billy Beane. :-D

"This must be heaven," he says.
"No. It's Oakland."
