[editor's note, by louismg]
This is a tremendous tragedy for all of baseball and those of us here at AN.
It is being reported that a plane owned and flown by former Oakland A's pitcher Cory Lidle was that which crashed into a New York building earlier today.
This story was a tragedy when first announced, and it has been covered on the news all day. We're only now learning that Lidle was part of the disaster, and that is how it personally reaches us and touches us, and reminds us that life is fragile. Not even the stars are invincible.
Cory was never our #1 ace, but for one very special month a few years ago, there was nobody in the world better. This is a horrible way to go, whether you were in the air or on the ground, famous or anonymous.
