Marlins Interested in Portland
Personally, i'de love to see this happen since im an Oregon native. Really is sad how all Portland has is a Padres minor league team and my pathetic Trailblazers.
Also, what do you think this would do to the NL West? I really don't see any of the teams getting younger in the west except maybe Arizona.
Would there be any chance they would come to the AL though? It would hurt if they did with all those damn good prospects coming up. :(

easy to fix
I hope they stay in the NL because in a few years all those prospects are going to pay off.

Oh, they'll get over it.
Actually, I suspect that the Loria ownership of the Marlins is actually utilized by the MLB to destroy franchises to the point where the fans don't mind losing the team too much, whenever a market becomes less than hugely successful.
First Loria took over at Montreal and did everything he could to ruin the franchise - no TV contracts, no new stadium even when the roof was falling in on the old one, antagonizing the fans by selling all the best players off. Then he moves to Florida and, despite winning a World Series, does the exact same schtick. Sell off all the assets, trot out a loser, start talking about moving if the fans don't get motivated, move.
Here's hoping he doesn't buy the A's next.
I like Portland
amen.
Let's go

The thing with Vegas...
Additionally, the AAA Vegas '51's are a joke - 2500 person crowds on a regular basis, when I lived there in 2000.
Interesting to note in the story...
Also, the Marlins are looking for a 37,000 seat stadium - is 'small and expensive' the new black?
i think another team
what city?
I would love to see a national league team in canada. Then I could actually have a second favorite team.
Ottawa? Montreal again? Vancouver?

Do they have Marlins in Portland?
Portland
Reading the Portland papers, there's a lot more skepticism this time around.
Additionally, there's way too much to do in Portland. People moved here from Seattle and SF for a reason.
