Theo rejoining the Sox

The Red Sox announced today that former general manager Theo Epstein will rejoin the organization in a full-time baseball operations capacity.

He won't be the general manager, it seems, but there's a good chance he'll have as much influence when it comes to baseball decisions as anyone in the front office. The team said further details about Epstein's return will be announced next week.

My thoughts - Looks like the soap opra shows are prime time now!

The Red Sox just want to be like us
We hire Billy Beane a bright, young, energetic, babyfaced GM who looks at things outside the box.

They Hire Theo Epstein, a very bright, energetic, very babyfaced GM who looks at things a lot like BB.

We decide not to re-sign Ken Macha, to let him go to Pittsburgh and cash in. Pittsburgh passes, so we re-sign Ken Macha and ultimately win a power struggle game if there ever was one.

They decide to let Epstein walk after he asked for a big raise, to go sign with the Empire Dodgers or whoever wanted to throw money at him. I guess pretty much everyone passed and they re-sign Theo and ultimately win a power struggle game (and in this case, there was one.)

You guys in Boston are wicked copy catting us. You can't fade the Oakland funk!

If Barry Zito ends up with the Angels, I will jump off the Bay Bridge in my Banjo man replica cape!

until I hear otherwise
I'm going to assume (and hope) that his undisclosed "operations capacity" will be running the Red Sox kids club.
