Was it something I did? Did someone do something to piss of the baseball gods?
"When I woke up this morning, I could hardly breathe," said Zito. "It's something with my ribs, in back on the left side."
"Barry wasn't himself," said A's manager Ken Macha, whose club has been without starting pitcher Rich Harden (lat strain), shortstop Bobby Crosby (fractured ankle) and center fielder Mark Kotsay (back spasms) of late. "He'd never make excuses for a loss, but he wasn't right physically."
Once Crosby went down with his ankle injury, I said something along the lines of, "I don't know how much more of this I can take." I guess my well-being isn't a priority with the baseball gods. :)
Kotsay could play today.
"Hopefully, I'll get back on the field," Kotsay said. "It all depends on how I feel when I get up. If not (today), hopefully Tuesday. I just want to get back in the lineup and do what I can to help. It's frustrating. A couple of us (injured players) would like to help rather than be cheerleaders."
