I am not trying to change the world. I do,however, think a different lineup in the three hole is necessary. I love Chavez-an unbelievable 3rd Baseman. But, he is leaving too many guys on base. He is plummeting into a huge strike out total that ranks with free swinging wild men like Bellarmine Pat Burrell and Richie Sexson. When the A's reach the post-season, they are going to need key hitters scattered throughout the lineup. I feel, if Chavez dropped to hitting 6th or 7th, his swing would come through in the clutch, and in the late innings during those marvelous pitching duels. I'm not second guessing Ken Macha, and I'm not some drunk blabbermouth on Robert Buan's show, I just don't know who the hell would bat third(-in the interim. of course) Chavez is the Art Howe voice of the A's. He is the quiet leader and it is great. He is the veteran voice of the A's. He deserves every penny in his contract, but number three right now is pivotal and maybe a little time near the bottom would be helpful to all.
