A's must now answer Angel's challenge.

Last week and this one coming are mirror images of each other. last week the Angels played two top flight teams in the Red & White Sox, and they went 4--2. The A's played two teams out of everything, Seattle and Texas, and went 3--3.

this coming week the situation is reversed with the A's playing the contenders (Indians and Red Sox) and the Angels playing the losers (Seattle and Detroit). Dropping two games in the standings here will likely build a hill too high to climb.

The odds are obviously against us--but hey, teams beat the odds. Our bats have to step up, and now. The fifth starter slot is a problem, so trying some creative ideas like the 5th starter is two pitchers-- Kennedy (4 innings)/Cruz (until he gives out--may be called for. (an idea mentioned by Bambi on the Cruz starter diary).

this has been a great year, looking at the rebuilding aspects coupled with the injuries. Hopefully it's not over this week, but it could be.

Amazing week from the Angels...

Talk about stepping it up when it matters. They deserves all the kudos possible for that week.

Hard to imagine the A's not losing ground

unless ANA really has a comedown this week. Agreed that we really can't afford to lose another 2 games in the standings. Coming home with a 3 game deficit and gaining another game before the big series puts them in a position to take 3-4 against the Angels and go into Seattle tied for the division. Unfortunately, ANA has Detroit and Tampa on their schedule.

Fight and Intensity

There is only one way the As get into postseason.
That is to go out each day trying to get a win.
Each game, each AB is important from here on out.
They need to show an intensity and fight all the
way to the last strike. That's the only way
they can make it; David beats Goliath. The effort needs to be there all the way through.

Otherwise the Angels, Indians or Yanks will walk
away with this.

I serious believe that this week will determine if the A's make the playoffs or not. Hopefully, they will!

Please don't give Angels too much credit

They went 1-2 against the Red Sox and then swept a team that I'd rather play than the Mariners. The White Sox are the single biggest pretender baseball has known in years.
