This is Nico's Day

But I thought I would share some face time that an AN reader got on FSN Bay Area tonight.

ohtobe21likehuston wrote to me the other day asking permission to use the official AN logo in a sign he was going to bring to a game in KC this weekend.

I told him he was welcome to do so, by all means.  I didn't really think it would get on the air.  Several AN readers had done something like this before without getting any face time, but I appreciated his efforts.

The sign was shown not once, but TWICE.  That guy has earned himself a free AN tee.  It should be on it's way shortly, man.  Beautiful.

would have fans that make a sign about 1) a blog and 2) the team's GM.

that says a lot about AN and billy.

Team DePo
There are at least 50 "Team DePo" (in the shape of the Home Depot logo) floating amongst Dodger fans.

Thanks for the screencap
whoever did that (Donner?). I missed watching most of the game so it's great to see that sign out there. So much publicity for AN, it's quite amazing. KNBR, KICU, FSN... if we get on ESPN we'll know the world's coming to an end. ;)

I was exited to see it. I think we should bring signs on AN day too. A banner with the website address would also look nice.

I hhecka wanna do that.
I have 25 feet of butcher paper under my bed from when I made my Zito sign. I'm thinking of putting the URL on the back of it and making the other sign with Melody at AN day. If people wanted to help cough cough some poeple could hold the URL sign while Melody and I held the other one.

Still a work and progress thing, though. :)

Do I have to bring paint?
Will they even let me take paint into the coliseum? I won't press my luck on spray paint, they'd take that away for sure. But I wonder what they'd say about a bucket of paint. Maybe just poster paint then...

by Melody on Aug 6, 2005 9:49 PM PDT up reply actions

Maybe those bottles of poster paint?
We used poster paint in my Leadership class. I'm sure you could bring that in or at least pass it off as a water bottle. :)

I like the kid in the Green hair. I died my hair green (permanent) in 2000. Two weeks before the end of the season, I promised my wife I would if the A's made the playoffs. Well worth it.

Did the color fade quickly though? I think we should all make a vow to dye our hair green if the A's make it to the playoffs. Or if they take first place.

I don't wanna dye my hair green just yet..

You have a gorgeous hair :(
Green would be wicked cool but then it would fade and you would be left with icky hair... So it would be kind of a shame to dye over your natural hair color. Maybe just some fake green extentions or something. The really shiney ones. Like the stuff you put on Christmas trees?

I don't care about dying my hair that much because if I messed up, I'd just cut it off or dye it back to black. The problem is, I don't think I could ever get it light enough to hold the green in the first place.

by Melody on Aug 6, 2005 10:06 PM PDT up reply actions

Every time I think of green hair...
...I think of that "Diff'rent Strokes" episode where Kimberly has a hair mishap and faces possible ridicule during a big school presentation.

Oh, the stuff that locked in my brain when I was 8...

AN is a sellout, I wish it was back to the group
only like 750 people, this place is too popular now and it has gone down the sh*tter...

<sarcasm off>

Hey has Blanton eaten Ohad too? Little guy hasn't posted since he's gotten stateside...

Oh yea, and this little ride were on, I keep telling myself, "don't get too excited, this was supposed to be a tough season, they're supposed to struggle, they're young, etc... you know the drill)

But holy hell, Batman, this team is so strong, they have gelled and decided we don't lose (Hat tip to the BB picks winners diary) and I've decided that it's a hellava strategy <chuckle>

Now fricken two hours till game time, what's everyone's spread (I'll go with 9-3 just to keep on the footbal score theme) on todays outcome?

Saw it
And excitedly tried to explain the significance to my wife.

What I said: "Check it out! An Athletics Nation sign! With 'In Billy we Trust' on it!"

What she heard: "lkdfdlkjfsl kdjhfdhjf Billy kjdhfjdhf"

What she said: "Some guy named Bill did what?"

Which prompted a 10 minute dissertation on the greatness of Billy Beane. I think she heard the first 5 words and left the room. I kept talking anyways...
