Open Thread: Game 127 - A's at Baltimore (cont.)

2-0 A's after 6 innings, as Blanton runs his scoreless streak to 13 innings over his last two starts. Time for the AFLAC duck to pinch-hit to get the A's a little insurance.

blanton out, calero in ...
Why is Blanton out of the game? Macha keeps taking him out after six innings. He could easily stretch into the seventh at this stage. If I rememeber right, Calero blew his last win in the 7th inning -- after Blanton had struck out the side in the sixth. Very frustrating.

The biggest problem
is not the players ripping up the turf, nor the chalk lines (although both suck).  It's those stands they bring in and slap on top of the outfield.  And since the Raiders play two games before the A's return, they just leave them there to kill the grass and harden (not Rich) the turf below.

Both Byrnes and Street
seem to be staring through me in thier gameday photos, creepy.

Korach analyzed this move
perfectly: For the price of one extra out from Street, Macha saves Duke for tomorrow where he might be asked to go 2 innings behind Kennedy. Good move, I think, especially because Street hasn't pitched since Sunday.

AL race recap brought to you by Guy's Shoes
Guy's Shoes...when you mean shoes, you're talking Guy's.

KC 1, NYY 5 - FINAL
Two Bernie homers. Pfft.

CLE 9, TOR 3 - FINAL
Two Hafner homers. Pfft.

LAA 8, TB 12 - TOP 8TH
Rays trying to prove they can score more than the Bucs.

MIN 0, TEX 6 - BOT 7TH
Twins apparently getting small in the rear-view mirror.

You need a pair of used mountain hiking shoes from Guy's -- pre-scuffed, pre-stained, so it looks like you were here all along. Remember, if people look at you funny, it may be your shoes.

Talkin' shoes, talkin' Guy's
Any two, any size
From your ankle to your toes
It's the bottom of your clothes

The distribution of invertebrates, protozoans, filamentous algae, diatoms, nonfilamentous algae, and one-celled algae (aka the balance of producers/consumers) in ordinary pond water. ;)

I'm an English/Lit person myself (really enjoying my lit class so far) so I'm suffering womanfully through Bio. Actually, lab wasn't as bad as I thought...in lecture, we were studying the thermodynamic laws and the properties of energy.

I've had some pretty good professors
at my community college, but that's not to say that I'm not eager to attend a 'real' school next year. :D Sarah Lawrence is the most likely, but Bard is a very viable second option. Both are excellent liberal arts schools and I'm very excited. :D
