I've always been an Oakland fan.............

and here's the picture to prove it. It was taken just after my 6th birthday, which coincidentally was a month after they won their 3rd consecutive World Series. (I'll let you all figure out the year.) I've been with them through the dark years (anyone remember Mickey Klutts?)and of course through all the great years, and this great run we are in the middle of. And I'm going to the game on Wednesday the 17th with a sizable contingency, and plan on getting 2 dollar seats and quite a few dollar dogs.If you see a guy with a Giambi shirt, and ancient A's cap, and a Jackie Robinson jersey, that half-mind would be me. Come and say hi! I know my picture is not as cute as Maya, but I digress. Anyone else got old green and gold pics?

Same Age

We seem to be about the same age. My first game was in 1975 vs. Angels. Vide Blue faced Frank Tanana and the A's won. Your favorite player may have been Mickey Klutz, but my favorite player from the "dark years" of the late 1970s was Mario Guerrero.

i remember guerrero

and brian kingman, wayne gross, the list goes on. my folks went to the WS in '73 and '74. Those programs are still with us. Bando, Fosse and Rudi were my faves from the golden years. my first game must have been '75, but I can't remember who pitched.

I may not have the longevity, but I've been bleeding "green and gold" for as long as I ever rooted for any team. I couldn't find any specific photos of just me, but here's one from 1990, where I'm holding a newborn cousin. My A's jacket hardly left my back.

This is me at age 10

As you can tell I have always been an A's fan.
I even wear A's gear while racing. This is me right before running a race in ontario last march (there was a freezing rain storm during the race but I had my $5 bootleg bart tunnel beenie to keep my head warm).

So, I have always been an A's fan and I show it as often as I can...

and the ancient A's cap isn't this one, but it's pretty close. I think it's from the original Rickey era.
I hope to meet some ANers at Wednesday's game, and give Byrnsie and Miggy some love.
