Yesterday was an incredible game, one that may define the season. If it wasn't for AN, I'd probably still be staring at Gameday with Chavvy up and a 1-0 count. Yet after the game was over I still had a bitter taste in my mouth.
Like many of you who depend on Gameday or other internet means, you are logged on to AN at the same time. Yesterday it was the usual for me: Gameday with AN on the side (or is it the other way around). I was on AN for the entire game and noticed a great deal of tension between AN members.
After being down 2-0, and then 4-0 there were quite a few "this game's over comments" which irked me and other as well. I know that we all voiced our opinions on that subject during the game.
I too get mad when we lose, or are losing, but I would never denounce the A's like some people have done during games. It really bothers me a great deal. I have been an A's fan since roughly 1980. Yes I know I am aging myself somewhat and if you must know I am 30. I have been through the high (and lows) of the late 80's and went through the dark ages of the mid/late 90's. Not once did I ever think of switching teams.
Living in PA, it is impossible to find people with the same passion for the A's that I have. That is till I found AN. It is so wonderful to see so many passionate A's fans in one group. I realize too that quite a few of you are in your teen years! That makes me smile quite a bit, becuase you remind me of myself at that age.
I make this plea to all of you, please don't beat the team down! Support them! Stop doubting them! Let the other teams have the luke warm fans. You have no idea what a lukewarm fan is until you lived in an area of Phillies/Yankees/Mets fans like myself. Trust me on this! They come out of the woodwork when they win and vanish when they lose. We're better than that.
I hope this post has not insulted anyone. Of my sports teams (A's, Raiders, Bucks, Hurricanes (NHL), and Bama) the A's, BY FAR, are the team I live for the most. This team does not quit, we owe it to them to return the favor!
