Danny Putnam may be gone for the season

After tearing his esophagus before Thursday nights game. He choked on a grape in the clubhouse. He had to be rushed to the hospital. I wonder if he almost died.

Sucks for the A's and especially for Putnam. Hopefully he's able to come back healthy and at full strength soon.

And it's still not 300 characters? Am I close? I don't think so. So uhh, be careful when you're eating grapes.

Bizarre
Very weird. How big was this assassin grape? Not quite one of those scars you can show off to your teammates.

a grape?
Sounds like it happened while he was choking on a grape.  Sounds more like a jagged metal krusty O to me though.

Where did you hear about this?
Looking for confirmation but not finding anything. Wouldn't seem like a season-ender if it's true... or would it?

Torn Esophagus
Has to be on the list of least likely/most terrifying injuries one could ever suffer.

How does one eat after such an injury?
Feeding tube? IV? He might suffer signficant weight loss as a result.

Poor Putnam.
And what an odd way to get injured. It's certainly too bad that his season has been interrupted, but right now I hope he's okay.

damn
how the hell could your gullet get torn on a grape?!

that's crazy...  maybe he didn't chew it at all and he hadn't done his pre-snack esophagus exercise.

anyway, that sucks, get better soon Danny!
