Where is Greg Poppa?

I'm sorry, but I miss the guy. Can anyone fill me in on why he is stuck doing ESPN broadcasts and not with the A's broadcast team anymore?  The new joker they have in the booth is almost as bad as Rex Hudler and Steve Physioc.  Speaking of Physioc, how the hell is that guy the Pac-10 announcer for just about every big game.  Ah, I miss the era of Vin Scully, Chick Hearn, and the greats.  Now we are stuck listening to a bunch of Joe Buck clones....

Just a thought, anyone have an answer to the Greg Pappa question?

GIANTS
He does about 40 or so Giants games a year.

Giants! wow!
Announcing for the Giants?  If he works hard, maybe he can make it back to the Major Leagues.

At least the Fosse and his partner aren't as ....
bad as these white sox "homers."

Just a random question.. living out here in DC or I should say being stuck out here in this swamp of a city, I've found myself able to catch the A's in 4 different cities this year.  They are as follows:

1.) Saw 3 games in Baltimore
2.) Saw 1 game in Boston (drove straight there from
    from DC)
3.) Caught 3 games against the Nats, in RFK.
4.) Caught 3 Games in Cleveland.

Can anyone beat that level of dedication?  Just a question, not a contest.  I'd be curious to hear just how dedicated some of you are.

* My record to date in A's games attended is 2-8. :(

I think I got you beat...
This year, in addition to the dozens of games in Oakland, I've seen two at San Francisco, one in Seattle, three in Toronto, and three in Chicago (as of tomorrow). (Actually, this entire Cooperstown-Toronto-Chicago trip was planned around the A's schedule...now THAT'S dedication!!!)

Papa
I think unofficially that he wanted more money and Schott ownership wasnt down.  I used to rag on him, but he is so much better than Greenwald and others I see on MLB Extra Innings.

Salary
The A's didn't want to pay Papa what he wanted, so he left to join the Giants broadcast team.

Papa
should stick with football announcing and the Raiders. He sucks at baseball.

agreed
imho he's good at basketball too, but the timing of calling a baseball game is just to subtle for him

Agreed
Didn't like him much as a baseball guy.  Though I'm a Niners fan, I really like his "Touchdown, RAAIDERS!" call, and the rest of his broadcast ain't bad.

I don't think Kiper and Fosse are that bad.  Fosse is horrible for the radio but he isn't too bad on TV.  A bit of a hometown homer, but not nearly as bad as Hawk Harrelson (though that's hard to do I guess).  I don't have much of an opinion on Kiper, except it's clear that we got the less talented of the two brothers.  And Greenwald... well more than enough has been said about him.  And it doesn't really matter, on the occasion that I do get to watch A's broadcasts on KICU or ESPN (don't get FSN), I usually bring down a radio and just listen to KFRC.  The TV broadcast lags a few seconds, but King/Korach is just incomparable.

I like Papa
I like him for basketball and football but for baseball he's ok. I actually like Kuip. I love Fosse but i think Korach is the best they got.

They alright
Papa is awesome announcing Raider games, he knows his stuff when announcing, player stats the action though he is horrible in baseball, I'm kind of let down he went for the Giants. Glen Kuiper is better than nothing, he is energentic but he just talks too fast, I like the combo of Roye and Fosee better as they add a different mix to the game.
