Eric Chavez on KNBR 7/28 (MP3)

FP Santangelo and Larry Krueger filled in for The Razor & Mr. T and they had Eric Chavez on at 5:05 PM today.

Same as before, download this soon, I'm not leaving it up forever (I'll keep it up as long as this diary is on the front page.)

He talks about the slump at the beginning of the season, Eric Byrnes leaving, the speech on the bus, Tony Phillips ripping on him when he was a rookie, the Manny situation in Boston, etc. Very good interview. The very beginning was cut off, but all they talked about was how to pronounce his name and then they asked Chavez about the slow start.

The quality isn't as good and I think there are some skips but it should work for the most part.

great interview!
thanks for posting this...it's great to hear A's coverage, even if it's on the Giants station.  The A's deserve a lot more coverage in the first place!

Nice.
Gotta love Chavy. He drives me nuts with his honesty at times, but I also can appreciate it. The more I hear about the 'bus incident', the more I appreciate it -- the guy called himself out, but he laid down the law. Sounds like it really was needed, and was a great thing to do.

I liked to hear his honesty about the Manny situation, good to hear a player agreeing with the assessment that the fans have.

Thank you!
I was hoping someone could post this or find a link to it.  I heard it yesterday and thought it was a GREAT interview.  Tons of interesting stuff about:
  1.  the Byrnes trade ("great for the team...already paying dividends...Billy only cares about winning, doesn't play favorites or care about who is a fan favorite")
  2.  the Manny Ramirez trade situation
  3.  his bus speech
Really interesting, I highly recommend.  Sometimes you love Chavez' honesty, sometimes you hate it, but in this case, it is a marvelous close look at this team.

Chavvy's Honesty = Good for Baseball
Sometimes his honesty is scary, but I love it.  The best thing is, when he says something positive -- like he recently said he thought the team could maintain this level of play -- you believe it.

(Hi Batgirl! Looking forward to watching the KC game at your house next week.)
