Scout.com: Lansford and Italiano debut

Figured there were people around who would love to hear this news:

From Scout.com's Oakland Clubhouse:

Lansford, Italiano Debut For Rookie A's
Top draft choices Jared Lansford and Craig Italiano made their much anticipated debuts on Friday night. Both debuts were successful, as each hurler threw a shut-out inning. Lansford started the game and he struck out two of the three batters he faced. Italiano relieved Lansford in the second inning and induced two groundouts and recorded a strikeout. Both will be brought along slowly in the desert heat.

It was only two innings of work, no reason to get Italiano printed on the back of our A's jerseys just yet (some might already have Lansford jerseys lying around), but this is a good start to their pro careers. With any luck they'll get shifted up to Vancouver by season's end and I can give some detailed skinny in person.

Oh, and those looking for a Travis Buck update, he went 2-4 with a walk and 2 runs scored last night in a 12-5 romp by the Eugene Emeralds over the Vancouver Canadians. He didn't look as good as the previous night, but it says something about a guy when he can have an off-night and still hit .500

On the down low, two separate people with the C's hinted to me last night that they don't expect Buck to play again in Vancouver after tonight's game. He's just clearly high-A material and rumor has it that he'll make an upward shift before the next C's roadtrip is over.

So if you're in Vancouver, buy a ticket tonight if you want to see 'Wonder' Buck do his thing.
