This nonsense that they're not out of it yet is hilarious. Uh, they're 37-50 and a really, really, really bad team. 16-0 bad. Five errors bad. Alex Sanchez in right field bad. Woody on the payroll bad. Tyler Walker closing bad. Ray Durham in the field bad. That's about as out of it as it gets. If their horrible, spiritless team with no order and no rotation (every week a new guy leaves it) were to play .600 ball the rest of the way which is absolutely unimaginable, they would win 82 games.
Right now the Giants are the second or third worst team in the majors. That San Diego is the thirteenth or fourteenth worst doesn't mean the Giants have a shot. San Diego will win that awful division. In case Giant fans aren't paying attention the Padres have many, many better players than the Giants do. That make it tough to catch up, regardless of what little lies you tell yourself.
