More Photos of Chez Nico II

Here we go with more photos of this unofficial AN event, Chez Nico II. Once again, thank you Nico for letting me use your camera! Sorry that I killed the entire battery and then had that huge scare when I thought I accidently deleted half of the photos.

Star-divide

I am really good at making ordinary people look like rapists. No wonder GNGG's mother wouldn't let her come, if I saw this picture I wouldn't let my daughter go either. Nico was trying to make shishkabobs but decided to have a bit of fun with them since the grills were not quite ready yet.

Being some of the first people to arrive, SecretAsianMan, Nico, ZeroIndulgence and Robb have a chat about the differences between Kotsay [fans] and Byrnes [fans].

As far as volume goes, we had much more alcohol at this event than dead animals. SecretAsianMan and Sslinger help themselves to this sinful drink.

It's time to advertise for Pepsi's Play Like a Pro day! Robb cleverly turns his logo to the camera as DMtShooter folds up a paper bag that contained some of the food he had brought. We were very good about recylcing today.

Now this is REAL BBQing! ZeroIndulgence slathers barbeque sauce onto his slab of dead cells. Then he proceeded to lick his fingers even though he had just touched raw meat.

The less barbaric half of the party settle for some tea... I mean, Batgirl pulls out some bread for her veggie dog as SportySpice decorates some cookies with Zito's likeness.

And a close-up of the cookies! Yeah I got a piece of that.

Trying to enjoy the shade at the picnic table, Robb, DMtShooter and ZeroIndulgence sit back and enjoy the food. Meanwhile, poor Poochini has to wait to feast on the leftover scraps, much like Eric Byrnes.

Then HighStreet joins the party and makes us all jealous by explaining that she really does live on HighStreet and she's only about four minutes away from the Coliseum.

The fact that one of the hotlinks was shaped just like a big toe was very upsetting to Saint's son, Forrest.

Pretending to be deep in conversation with Ptbarnum, Andeux conspires to point the camera at yours truly.

So it was time to turn around. Sslinger, Ptbarnum, SportySpice and Batgirl enjoy a philosophical conversation on the possible ways to make the coliseum look like a work of art.

Meanwhile, a deeply disturbed Forrest retreats to the corner and curls up in the fetal position.

Demonstrating Kielty's "Two Outs" sign to the left field bleachers is no other than Saint himself.

So finally we moved indoors. After a long talk about "Kotsay's Extention," Forrest proceeds to say, "It's so weird when a guy says another guy is hot!" To which he got this reply, "You don't have to say it, you just have to know when another man is gorgeous." Or something. I think I just butchered this story. But it was funny anyway.

I think this was after Byrnes' RBI double. I tried to come up with a clever line about Byrnes here, but I think we already wore out the "Byrnes would have ________ that" line today. That is JMC way off in the corner there, he arrived late and I forgot to get a better picture :(

This was probably after Zito let two men reach base without recording a single out. Or not.

But that's okay, since the A's came back to win and there were plenty of crotch shots [and more talk about extentions] to go around.

The really fun part...
was when Zito gave up the double steal and we all went apeshit negative for 5 minutes. Just like in the game threads!

If I'm up in the Bay
when you guys have another one, I'd love to be there...looks like fun.  Living in San Diego and been to one game this year...16-0 A's!  Don't worry, I won't take too much credit.

Ahhhh, excellent...
More pictures.  And a few more of me, even.  Wasn't so elusive from Melody's camera.  Still, yes, it was a good time to be had by all.  The BBQ was nice.  Got to sit around, grill up some food, and just hang out with some good people before the game.  Of course, the game was good...10-1 always is.  I just enjoy sharing a game with people who understand the game, like baseball, and can discuss it.  It really is quite a treat.  I will be looking forward to the next get together!

You guys are so lucky!!!
How fun it must be to get together for an A's game!!!
I am truly jealous! I have to watch A's games by myself, becuase I think I might be the only diehard A's fan in NE Pa.
A few weeks back I saw a guy in an A's hat at the mall and I got excited. I approached him to talk A's baseball, but I was quickly disappointed as he still thought Tejada played with the A's.
It's nice to see that you guys have such outings...I kinda get the impression that A's fans do this moreso than other team's fans.
Everyone should want Larry Davis as their boss...there would never be a timetable on anything.

As the pictures prove,
Chez Nico is a place where children may be traumatized and the host looks a bit like a rapist, and beer is served around minors--but there is very little else illegal going on other than the gambling and the hookers.

BTW
I want to call attention to the sweetest part of the photos, in case you missed it. As part of the "Chez Nico Community Service" program, I invited the developmentally disabled (sorry, "differently abled") DMTShooter, and if you look at the picture where Robb is shamelessly promoting Pepsi you can see DMTShooter so entertained by a simple paper bag. Touching.

Chez Nico II was even more fun than CN I if I do say so, but that may have been the result of a big win and a big player signing.  The company of other ANers was equally wonderful on both occasions.  I look forward to CN III and I'll put out a standing offer that if you are tiring of playing host, we can do one at my house.  Chez batgirl--just a few short blocks away.  Otherwise, I'll pitch in on snacks, etc.

Tons of Fun
A great effort by Niko, fellow AN'ers, and the cute pooch. It was great meeting the faces behind the postings. I will give myself credit for endowing Zito with special mojo with my Zito cookies and their uncanny resemblance to the ace.

By the end of the game we had reached some obvious truths:

  1. Barry is back.
  2. Crosby will be in the All Star game next year and for the next decade.
  3. Crotch shots on TV aren't really necessary.
  4. Shots of pitchers picking their nose in the dugout aren't really necessary either, and are just nasty.
  5. No one fills out a pair of tight white pants as nicely as Mr. Zito (OK, that's just me).

bart walk
yes that last 1/2 mile is brutal.  i suggest stopping in the rose garden to check the view and more importantly, to catch your breath.

thanks again nico for hosting, you have a lovely abode (who's the potter?  i noticed the clay tools.)  next time i'll be there for the chow portion.

i'm sorry everybody, but i think macha is a good manager.

by JMC @ Athletics Nation on Jul 11, 2005 10:45 AM PDT reply actions

Next event,
whether Chez Moi or Chez Batgirl, it would be easy to arrange a group pick-up from BART if everyone who BARTs makes sure to arrive at the same station at about the same time. It's all of a 5-minute drive from either of our chezs to the North Berkeley BART station. Easy to arrange.

Who's the potter, JMC? Harry, I suppose.  And yes, stopping at the Rose Gardens is an excellent idea--especially if you take a moment to find a wedding in progress and voice a strong, but random, objection. ("You can't marry them--because I won the bride in a poker game last Thursday!")
