Corvette Story

Caught this little nugget on the A's website today.

"Bullpen catcher Brandon Buckley was moderately successful in his attempts to ruffle Rich Harden's feathers by noting that Barry Zito will be featured in a future issue of a magazine devoted to Corvette enthusiasts. Zito is driving a loaner Corvette from a dealership for which he appeared in an ad. Harden bought his. "Z's is an automatic, and he doesn't even know how to drive it," Harden said with feigned indignation. "Me and Byrnes, we own ours, and we drive stick. We're the real Corvette guys in here, not Zito."

This is another great non-baseball story about our team.  I love reading stuff like this.  It gives you a more personal perspective of these guys and as a fan, it makes me love them more and more.......

yeah i like that
esp. since you don't hear all that much about what Harden is like as a person, always nice to get that insight.

It's great that the players on this team love to
rip on eachother.  shows their level of friendship between the players, and proves that friend-wise, these guys are at a level where they can rip on eachother and know its in good fun.

typical of guy friends.

My favorite quote from an A's article:
A's reliever Chad Bradford isn't bilingual, but he might be before long.

Upon arriving at McAfee Coliseum on Thursday for the first time this season, Bradford, who had back surgery during Spring Training and will start a rehab stint in the Minor Leagues next week, found his locker moved from the back of the clubhouse to the "Latin Corner" occupied by Kiko Calero, Ricardo Rincon and Marco Scutaro.

"Time to brush up on my Spanish, I guess," Bradford, a Mississippi native, said with a big smile. "These are my people now."

<warm fuzzies>

I love this team.

I also liked...
the line about Crosby's "cartoon double-take" when he saw Bradford in the clubhouse... as long as that doesn't mean his head did a full 360 on its axis, then snapped back into place...

That is soooo cute ....
my dog and cat were like that when they were a puppy and kitten together. They don't get along so well anymore.

Harden got his Vette
After he wrecked his truck.  Anyone know what color it is?  I want to complete the picture in my mind.

Black
I was at a Dinner with Harden, Haren, and Brad Fisher during Spring Training.  They were giving Harden a hard time about wrecking his truck and then going out and getting a Corvette.  I think they said it was jet black.

and Byrnes' is gray
Why is it that the only Corvettes I see on the road are driven by old men?  What a waste of a hot car.

There's a 'Vette at my house...
My dad has an old red '81 Stingray. He said that as soon as I get my license, it's mine. :)

Yay.

Since my daddy loves the 'Vettes, I'm going to have to buy that magazine with Barry in it. Oh la la. Corvettes and Barry Zito. ;)

"But why is the rum gone??"

I look hot in my AN tee. ;)
