AN Adds a New Writer

Well, he's not necessarily a new writer. Many of you already know him well.

Since I started AN in November of 2003, it's been my baby. It's been a labor of love and something I've just adored doing. I've loved enjoying A's games with all of you and having a true online family to celebrate and commiserate with.

It's been a long time coming, but I've officially decided to ask for help. I'm currently working freelance right now and it's taking a lot of time. Between that and being my daughter's primary caretaker, I needed the help.

So, it's with great pleasure that I'd like to announce that Nico has officially become an AN writer. He will initially be posting on Fridays and Saturdays (Sunday this week).

Nico is one of the most insightful, and just plain hilarious people here in Athletics Nation and I couldn't be happier that he has accepted my offer to join. Not only that, he's already hosting a mini-AN day at his casa this weekend. He's already hosting events.

I would like to extend a warm AN welcome to Nico as an AN writer and I hope you'll do the same. Welcome Nico!!! You're a gentleman and a scholar. And really frickin funny.

I've been suspecting...

for a while now that while Devo uses this site to audition for a front office job and while GnGG uses it to court Zito that Nico was seeking a promotion. Haha, we all have our AN motives. I doubt that the official AN Nico material will be as good as the stuff I have to dig through diaries to find, but I'll be happy to find out.

Well, this is the best news I've heard since... um... I learned that Bobby Crosby and Eric Byrnes will be at the mall.

Anyway, congratulations! I guess this means something else to celebrate, eh? Besides your new children, and Chez Nico Day, that is. Just remember this when you write, and we can all be happy.

I think we're all in trouble now. Nico as an AN writer? No one is safe now!!!

But in all seriousness, its a good choice by Blez. Nico is a good poster and seems to know his stuff. Of course, we'll see how much I like him after this Saturday :-P

Will be interesting see how many other posters look for promotions after this...lol (jk, o course...i think...)

Read the headline and...

immediately sent out an ERA (Emergency Reaction Alert) here at the AN Embassy in Manama. We sent the OPS (Observer of Precious Stuff [aka vault keeper]) to be prepared to break out the Green 'N Gold Party Hats just in case it might be true... and several of us halted our OF (Official Functions) and broke into SB (Spontaneous Beseeching)... Nico, Nico, Nico.

And, alhamdullah, our prayers were answered!!! Crank up Kool & the Gang and let the Celebration begin.

I wondered how AthleticsNation could get any more interesting and enjoyable and Blez found a way to make both happen. Thanks to Blez for offering and Nico for accepting and "Ahlan wa Sahlan ya Nico..." Welcome Nico. Looking forward to even more of your OBP, AN, and RHP (Obviously Brilliant Pontificating, Acerbic Noodlings, and Righteously Hilarious Pronouncements).

of course I was thinking that but since I'm a lightweight, I never fully enjoy the games as much when I'm sloshed. I have a 2 beer limit. Don't want my debut on Sportscenter to be me slouched over in my seat red-faced and knocked out. That would be a sad sight.
