"Filthy" Rich Harden

Haven't seen this yet, so here it is....

It looks like "Filthy" Rich Harden is getting back into the rotation next Thursday vs. Seattle (knock on wood)...

Couple Quick Thoughts:

  • 23 Games until the All-Star Break.  How about a nice 17-6 Run to finish off the 1st Half of the Season?
  • How good would 44-43 sound at the All-Star Break?
  • How about sending Cruz down to AAA next week.  He could be "stretched" out in Sacramento for a few starts, then called up to replace Glynn as the 5th Starter after the All-Star Break.  Cruz has nasty stuff, and mentally, starting might be the cure for Cruz'es mental struggles thus far.  Saarloos can take over the middle relief duties.

so
Gynn is the 5th starter, not Saarloos?

It looks like
Glynn has two more starts and Saarloos one more to each make their case for the #5 spot.

Once Glynn has 4 starts behind him, I think we'll have a much better idea of whether he deserves the spot.

The next time I slap a guy's ass, can we all just assume it's because I wish I was a baseball player?

The Article...
....Says that Harden is taking Saarloos' place in the rotation next Thursday (if all goes well).

I have more confidence in Saarloos
The pitching staff with Harden back should be formidable, save the 5th starter.  Macha worries about a starter going 7, why?  He is keeping 6 extra pitchers, the problem is some of them are going a week without pitching at all, that is as bad as being overworked.  IT seems the only pitchers he will use is Duke, Calero and Street, then why have the other guys?

He uses Rinky
Yabu is there for non-pressure middle relief and pitches regularly too.

Harikilalallllaaaa is there for days when the starter decides he wants to make other teams feel good about themselves.

Cruz is there to give us reason to want to fire Macha.

They all serve very important roles.

From today's Sac Bee:
When Harden returns, Ryan Glynn or Kirk Saarloos will likely be demoted. Glynn starts tonight and Saarloos on Saturday, but Macha said the decision has pretty much been made.

Macha noted Glynn lasted seven innings in his first start, whereas Saarloos has lasted six innings only twice in 11 starts.

Glynn
Said he was excited for today because he was working on a new split finger pitch that curt young and himself really liked and that Young loved the drop on it or something.
