Keep the A's in Oakland

Stay connected for news and updates

According to this diary, it's time to put up or shut up with getting a new stadium done.

Unless any of us has a spare $100 mil or so lying around or know someone who does - the best opportunity to really make something happen is by enlisting the support of our elected leaders. Now I'm not necessarily saying that we should be asking for public money to be used - though I think some public money would be appropriate - but our representatives, if they're any good at their jobs, should have the connections, the creativity, and the ability to enlist the support of private entities to get this ball rolling.

My suggestion is that Athletics Nation (minus the minority of us who want the A's to move - hey, you're entitled to your opinion) take over an Oakland City Council meeting once a month. If we can get 100 or so of us out, wearing A's gear, with 20 or 30 making comments, we can be a very visible force and keep our A's in Oakland.

AN Council Day
3rd Tuesday of every month
6 pm
Oakland City Hall
beginning June 21

Who's with me?

I'd appreciate your recommendation as well.
